“As good as they say. As good as it gets.”
There are several Torchy's around Austin but it looks like most of the locations (including this one) are getting reviewed under the Trailer Park location.
I visited Austin for the first time last week and couldn't wait to try Torchy's. I work with a couple (former) Austinites and all I ever hear about is queso. I've found a couple good queso places in NYC but I know that they pale in comparison to Austin so my goal was to eat queso every day while I was there. I had read and heard that Torchy's queso was THE BEST so had to make that my first stop. I went with a friend who lives there. We ended up ordering the queso & chips, guac & chips, and a couple tacos. I had only planned to do queso and not a taco but once I got there I thought how could I not? It was tough deciding which one, as they all look amazing. My friend had the Democrat and I settled on the Crossroads, which has smoked brisket, grilled onions, jalapeños, jack cheese, avocado and tomatillo sauce. I had no idea a taco could taste that good. Seriously, I grew up on brisket but guess I've never had it smoked before. UNREAL. And, yes, so was the queso. Too much food all at once but it's Texas so go big or go home, right?
