This somewhat tired Holiday Inn is where I stay when in Austin since it is very close to my office. And I have eaten at Legends several times in the past year. But recently the hotel GM hired a superstar young chef to run the kitchen that serves Legends Sports Bar, room service and the banquet facility. His name is Aaron and he is going to shoot to the top of the restaurant scene in Austin. All you foodies in Austin need to truck over to Legends Sports Bar and try the new menu. All fresh-prepared, creative, and extraordinary quality for this kind of restaurant. If you are looking for new interpretations of classic Southwest and Cuban favorites, you should stop reading this and get over to Legends.
I recommend the skirt steak, fish and chips, and the deserts. All made fresh...at a sports bar!
On the downside, they do need more wait staff and a better selection of beers.
The prices are so low they may cause some to question the quality of the food...but fear not. You get exceptional quality, good portions, at a ridiculously low price. The skirt steak should cost twice as much...and I would happily pay. It's that good.
