Once you get past the snarky receptionists who check you in and really don't care about your comfort, you'll find your room to be a pleasant oasis in the heat of Austin. It is walking distance from 6th street and the crazy's, if you're into that sort of thing. The pool area is also nice, but the attendant was snarky and bordered on rude... they police the pool like people are just breaking into it all the time when NOT staying there... difficult to do since it is on the 8th floor! We've stayed here 2 times - once for a week in August 2012 and once for a night while our carpets were drying. The August visit was to scope out potential homes we were interested in as we were moving from Manhattan NYC to Austin.
The room service is 'meh' :/ - we stayed concierge level so had access to a delicious breakfast, snack and evening dessert and coffee daily. That was a bonus and the gals who run it are lovely. I highly recommend staying at this level or above for excellent views and the free grub.
They'd have gotten a 5th star if their staff's hospitality mirrored Austin's. They're too cheap to dole out wi-fi codes to their guests (including the concierge level!) in spite of us asking for it after paying for the first device! (We have two kids and like 47 wi-fi devices...) << Lame >>
25th floor and above. The wi-fi is NOT free and they want to charge you for each device. THIS suck...
