Stayed the weekend of the Austin Marathon. Excellent service. Manuel and Tom from the bell staff went above and beyond when we had to make an unexpected trip to the ER and found ourselves unable to get a cab back to hotel. Thank you again!
Hotel and spa new and clean. Amber gave an excellent facial! Nice rooftop pool, too.

Room Tip: High floor facing the city has beautiful views.

Stayed at the Hilton because of the location. Had read a couple of negative reviews, but never thought that much about it knowing all Hotels will have a weakness. First thing we noticed is the TV did not have a picture when we checked into the room. The answer to fix it was send a repairman up whose answer was to unplug the tv wait a few minutes and try it again. On the second day when we said something to the staff again, they sent us a new TV to our room, the TV kept freezing up and you could not change channels or the volume. Instead of moving us to a different room, we were forced to put up with this all weekend. My wife called guest services at least 5 times. Their final answer to help satisfy us, is we will only charge you one night of Valet parking ($27) We have stayed at nice Hiltons, but never again at this one. I expected much more for a room that was $350 per night!

An extended business trip took me to the Austin Hilton for 10 days this month. That really creates an opportunity to get to know a place.
With only one exception, the staff was enormously helpful and solicitous. Almost everything we needed was provided, with the exception of a microwave, which I really could have used. Overall service was definitely an A. the Spa/gym was immaculate and well equipped. Restaurant options in the hotel were only fair, though both eateries were good, (Sushi bar outstanding,) the menu's were limited. Close enough to 6th Street, other restaurants were nearby, but very touristy. Fabulous proximity to the convention center, and a $1 trainish thing to the airport. Rates were definitely on the high side, so much better if you can get a deal.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view. mine was fabulous.

The Hilton Austin is conveniently located to downtown attractions. Austin is a very walkable city, and this property is no more than about a mile walk to most places one probably would want to check out. Service there was good though maybe not spectacular, and the little cafe located in the hotel serves Starbucks and has an assortment of pastries... This is nice for early mornings.

On the downside... I traveled with a friend and she had booked online. The online form defaults to one guest and she did not realize she had not changed it to two. Upon arrival, we were advised the room would be an additional $70 per night for an additional guest. We had no choice, so we paid it (an additional $300 after tax, for a four-night stay), but checked when we got home and found that on the website, the price for one guest and two guests is the same. So if you plan to have multiple guests in the room, be sure to update the web form before booking. Though I understand this was our error, $70/night seems quite excessive to go from one guest to two in a room with two queen beds. Aren't most hotel rooms priced for double occupancy anyway?

The only other downside is that there is no shuttle to/from the airport. That was $36 each way after tip.

Upsides - Clean property, rooms are decent and clean if not luxurious, and the rooftop pool looked nice although it was too cold for us to use during our stay.

So... If convenience is the goal, stay at the Hilton Austin and make sure you book the room properly if you make the reservation online.

I had a short business trip in this city which I had long wanted to visit for its music reputation, so I chose a hotel that was conveniently located to Sixth Street. Everything about the hotel was fine -- nothing awful, but nothing spectacular either, sort of bland and not much character, but nothing offensive (typical convention hotel, as the convention center is directly across the street). Room and bathroom were OK but both on the small side; gym was fine (but too few treadmills). Gym/spa opened out to pool deck, which looked nice enough but was empty due to cloudy weather. Spa services are pricey given what is available locally. I asked the concierge for advice re music venues given my tastes and demographic, and was (correctly) advised that 6th St is full of dive bars and college kids (definitely NOT my demographic). Oh well. Walked about 1 mile to the flagship Whole Foods store (which IS my demographic), so all was not lost. Well, at least I've gotten Austin out of my system.

We stayed here for our son's wedding which was at the Palm Door, a block away. Hotel and spa were very accomodating to our wedding guests. Most of our wedding events were within walking distance which was great. Parking was included in our rates. The spa gave special rates for wedding guests. The hotel was very gracious to place our guests' rooms on the same floor. Starbucks in lobby even carries breakfast burritoes!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room
