The place was great except there was no living room or dining room. Breakfast was taken back to the bedroom and there was no way to meet people. Very disappointing.
The best place imaginable for a warm and welcoming stay in Austin. Robin had the best breakfasts every morning and the Fitzgerald Suite was the best for our stay with five year old granddaughter.
We were close to the Dillo shuttle, close to a lovely grocery store, and to a playground. Brava House is set in the midst of a great neighborhood that I wouldn't mind living in some day. The back deck and front porch are both perfect for some quiet downtime of reading or just sitting in the sun.
Robin was very helpful with directions and info on things to do. We'll definitely be back for another stay!
We spent a relaxing two days at the Brava House Bed and Breakfast, and never even wanted to leave the front porch. It's truly an oasis and every moment at the B&B is tranquil, from the greeting we received from the resident (?) tabby cat and garden gnome, to the lovely back deck, inviting front porch, and comfy room.
The decor is understated and unobtrusive, just like the innkeeper, Robin. She was available as needed, but never pushy or overwhelming as some B&b owners tend to be. We stayed in the "Casablanca" room, at the top of the stairs on the back of the house, and felt very free to come and go as we pleased. We were in easy walking distance to some great shops in Austin, the incredible Landmark location of Whole Foods Market, and a short drive to many, many restaurants and bars.
The breakfast (mid-week) was decent, just enough to get you started on your day. The second morning we were there, Robin made some delicious apple-pancakes. I believe she prepares a larger breakfast for weekend visitors.
We've already decided that we would stay at the Brava House on our next trip to Austin.
As we were leaving, Robin was busy at work planting flowers in the front garden, to welcome new guests.
Brava House was cozy, comforting, and refreshingly simple. As a business traveler, I was looking for accommodation different from a stark hotel room; Brava House finely delivered. The location is within a ten-minute walking distance to many quaint restaurants, cafes, and shops. The neighborhood is friendly and taking breakfast on the front porch was relaxing. Robin, the Brava House owner, is energetic and ready to help when needed. I stayed in the Fitzgerald Suite and highly recommend it. All furniture in the room is large and antique. The sitting room is as large as a full living room with an arrangement of seating and a nice view of the front yard through large windows. The bedroom also is large and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom was small, but neatly provided all that I needed. I highly recommend the Brava House when in Austin with friends/family or especially when traveling alone!
