“Funky neighborhood atmosphere, Good food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

Had a very good Tuna salad nicoise there. Pizza looked good. On a busy street so the outdoor patio was noisy. Funky interior but enjoy the food and ignore the decor.

“Very Disappointed!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

We attended on a week night with the restaurant about 25% occupied. We waited 20 minutes for our waiter and only then after asking the young man who had brought the bread and water. The chopped salad was a pleasant surprise but the fettuccine carbonara was terrible. It was overcooked, dry(unable to add any cheese or it would not have been edible), tasteless and obviously had been cooked hours before. This was the fourth occasion to eat with Gusto in the last year and it certainly is the last.

“Great Service and Pizza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

We visited Gusto last night, and sat at the bar and had a great experience. The bartender Peter was knowledgeable and friendly. He recommended some great wines and the pizza (Italian job) was yummy. We will definitely return and enjoy the lovely patio. We also visited before 7pm and received a happy hour discount.

“Gusto, Sixties Italy in the Heart of Texas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

Gusto is an Austin neighborhood restaurant for me, but so much more. I lived in Rome in 1973 and Gusto takes me back to the glory days of Marcello Mastrioanni and Sophia Loren. The pictures, literal icons, of these Italian stars are depicted on the restaurant walls along with Gary Cooper, Audrey Hepburn from the Roman Holiday film. That Sixties Italy tone is set by the stencil artwork done by Austin street artist Federico Archuleta. How appropriate is it that Mexican-American artist Archuleta has the first name Federico? Federico... the same as the cinematic maestro Federico Fellini. Fellini's films always have a human dimension and an element of magic. Gusto Italian Kitchen has both of these qualities. My wife and I are always warmly welcomed by the staff. Cameron, the manager, takes time to chat and make us feel like family. The bar has Roman charm. I love the food. The Caesar and Mista salads are highly recommended. The pizzas are exceptional. I'm a seafood guy and so Linguini Frutti di Mari is my favorite pasta dish and the Cioppino is another savory seafood entree. The Rotini alla Crema is an excellent chicken entree. The chef clearly has taken time to design a varied, high quality menu. Recommend Gusto with the greatest affection! And the patio is the best in Austin.

“Delightful Italian Kitchen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

Gusto is a charming, Italian style eatery. We went for drinks, and decided to have the Prosecco, it was perfect. We also decided to indulge in dessert, which turned out to be an excellent idea. We had the Cannoli, which was filled with ice cream, and the flour less Chocolate Torte. The torte was extremely Rich & decadent and my favorite. We finished our sweets outside on there beautiful patio. Delightful atmosphere, Rich desserts, great drinks and wonderful friends. In the Italian language, Gusto is Splendido!
