We stayed last weekend at the Hampton Inn and Suites Austin Downtown. My two teenagers were impressed that the "Real World" house was one street over, and they took lots of pictures. The property is conveniently located to 6th Street and we felt comfortable walking there. The valet parking was swift and efficient, and worth the extra $14 per day. The room was clean, and the beds were very comfy. Our room on the 15th floor had a great view of the city, which was very impressive and beautiful at night. The complimentary breakfast was good, as always, and the breakfast room had doors opening out to a balcony which ran the length of the building. This was a nice place to relax while having breakfast, or enjoy a drink in the evenings. Within walking distance is a great seafood restaurant called the Shoreline Grill. We dined outside here and were able to watch the bats fly out at sunset while enjoying a fantastic meal. A bit pricey, but well worth it. We took the advice of another Trip Advisor member and did the segway tour of the city and it was awesome. We did not use the pool, but it looked clean and there we others who appeared to be enjoying themselves there. We did use the fitness center, which was cool and comfortable with several machines. There is a small cafe on the ground level which we only found upon exploring the lobby area. If you don't go looking for it, you will not see it, because it is behind the staircase . You can also enter it from the street, but we did not notice it because it is beyond the front entrance and the valet parking. It serves hot and cold drinks, salads, sandwiches and snacks. The Hampton Inn will be my first choice when i return to Austin.

Was concerned about the posting on trip advisor. Was wanting to stay somewhere nice and near all the attractions. Called the hotel and talked to one of the friendly staff members named Ashley. Ashley was able to answer all of may questions and concerns I had while shopping around for a hotel. Keep in mind I am taking a family vacation with my wife and 1 year old daughter. Needless to say I went ahead and booked a 3 night stay here at the Hampton Inn. I was very pleased with the staff, location, appearance, breakfast, security, and atmosphere of the hotel. If you need a very nice place to stay @ an afordable price, this is the place for you and your family. Let me just say this I shopped around for 2 months booking and cancelling hotels around Austin. I was so glad with the research I did and help receieved from the Hampton Inn and our stay. This hotel is about three years old and is excellent shape. The Hampton inn is located around 4 & 5 Star hotels, like the Four Season, and Double tree. I'm afraid to say it, due to wanting to stay here again, but this hotels does not charge enough for all the ammenities and services they provide. If you are looking for a Hotel that is all these things and more described above this is the Hotel for you. Now go back your. Thanks

We were in town for one night for a concert at the Paramount Theatre which is within reasonable walking distance from the downtown Hampton, but we drove anyway and got lucky with parking. Downtown is busy and parking is scarce, valet parking at the Hampton is $14/night and well worth it. The garage is next door and the valets are very quick, careful and polite. You'll pay $21 in New Orleans for this and your car may be parked in a lot somewhere miles away. The hotel is very large, 16 or 18 floors, largest Hampton I've stayed at. Our room was spacious, king bed very comfortable, choice of soft or firm pillows also very comfortable, very clean and well maintained room. The hotel is probably a renovation but I could not see any evidence of this, all was in order and very clean and very quiet even though there were lots of guests and a PTA convention in town. Hampton breakfasts are the best and most of the 2nd floor is devoted to this. Sunday morning was very busy but we were able to find a table and enjoy a pretty good Hampton breakfast (except, no eggs) with lots of cereal, pastries, muffins, bagles, yogurt, juice, etc. Plenty of staff to attend to things with one manager working very hard to keep tables wiped down and trash put away. With all the people coming and going, they did a great job, I was impressed. Beautiful hotel, polite and attentive staff, we paid $115 for a Sat. night and felt that was a good value. The MTV Real World-Austin house is 1 block away and clearly seen from the 2nd floor outside balcony, so you know the bars are nearby too, but it was a very quiet and relaxing stay.

“Decent stay @ Hampton”

Hampton Inn & Suites Austin Downtown

Just returned from stay and decided it was not as nice as my first stay a few months ago. Hotel felt a bit "worn" this time around and not quite as fresh. Needed an early check in and had to wait an hour for room to be cleaned. Once in room, didn't feel as fresh as would have liked...floors were still dirty and pillow cases were stained & didn't smell fresh. Pillows were very soft and uncomfortable.

Pros: Location is convenient to most 6th street activity & for a business traveler this is a good spot. Also, the touch of the bellhops is nice. The breakfast bar appears to be better than most...make sure and eat by 10:00, because they promptly close it for the day. The front desk appeared to be courteous and helpful. Nicer facility than most Hampton properties I've stayed in.

Basically, not a bad stay for the $129.00, I paid, but, will look for another hotel on the next stay. The Hilton Inn Downtown is great, if, you can find it @ a good price.

“Comfortable at the Hampton”

My husband and I stayed at the Hampton Inn from April 7th until April 11th. He was in town for a large conference and I was just along for some relaxation.

We found the Hampton Inn to be very tastefully decorated. The beds were very comfortable and for the most part, the room was quiet. We have stayed at many hotels and I would rate this one of the cleanest I have stayed at. I didn't care for the shower. I felt it had very low pressure and was designed for a VERY tall person. We stayed on the 16th floor.

We ate at the complimentary breakfast each day. There was a nice selection of pastries, yogurt, cereals, etc. each day. There was also a hot choice such as eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc. each day. There was plenty of food for everyone each day, and on the weekend the hotel was at capacity. We especially enjoyed eating outside on the balcony.

We enjoyed going to the 6th Street bars and listening to live music several of the nights of our stay. This was within walking distance. I would also recommend a stop at The Cedar Door which is right next door. They had a great Mexican Martini. We were surprisingly disappointed in PF Chang's. Both of our meals tasted like they dumped a salt shaker on them. The Rio Grande had just opened and was pretty good, especially for appetizers. There is also a Mongolian Grill nearby. We did not eat there but heard it was good.

The hotel is within walking distance to the convention center which was great for my husband. There are also several restaurants within walking distance, and of course, 6th Street venues, as I mentioned earlier. I was hoping to do a little shopping and there was not much within walking distance.

I felt the pool area was a bit of a disappointment for a hotel this size. The water was COLD. This was not a huge factor for me, as I only wanted to dip my feet in so I could cool off after laying out, but, for a family with children, it would have been WAY TOO COLD!! Also, I was surprised that there was not a hot whirlpool. Even the smaller scale Hamptons that we have stayed at have had whirlpools. There was not a restroom near the pool area either.

The staff at this hotel was friendly. There is a hospitality hour during the week that we were not told about so if that is something that interests you, ask about it upon your arrival. I didn't see it mentioned in any of their literature and it was not mentioned at check-in. By the time we inquired about it, it was over.

Overall, I would recommend this establishment as a quality place to stay. I believe business travelers would find it especially appealing.
