We stayed last weekend at the Hampton Inn and Suites Austin Downtown. My two teenagers were impressed that the "Real World" house was one street over, and they took lots of pictures. The property is conveniently located to 6th Street and we felt comfortable walking there. The valet parking was swift and efficient, and worth the extra $14 per day. The room was clean, and the beds were very comfy. Our room on the 15th floor had a great view of the city, which was very impressive and beautiful at night. The complimentary breakfast was good, as always, and the breakfast room had doors opening out to a balcony which ran the length of the building. This was a nice place to relax while having breakfast, or enjoy a drink in the evenings. Within walking distance is a great seafood restaurant called the Shoreline Grill. We dined outside here and were able to watch the bats fly out at sunset while enjoying a fantastic meal. A bit pricey, but well worth it. We took the advice of another Trip Advisor member and did the segway tour of the city and it was awesome. We did not use the pool, but it looked clean and there we others who appeared to be enjoying themselves there. We did use the fitness center, which was cool and comfortable with several machines. There is a small cafe on the ground level which we only found upon exploring the lobby area. If you don't go looking for it, you will not see it, because it is behind the staircase . You can also enter it from the street, but we did not notice it because it is beyond the front entrance and the valet parking. It serves hot and cold drinks, salads, sandwiches and snacks. The Hampton Inn will be my first choice when i return to Austin.
