HopDoddy's is an eco-friendly restaurant in the heart of Austin's South Congress district serving up great burgers, tuna steaks, and salads. The burgers range from relatively plain hamburgers and cheeseburgers to burgers with unusual toppings. All of the meat is organic, as are all the vegetables on the sandwiches and salads. The sandwiches are served on a metal tray with butcher-paper lining, and fresh from the grille. Most sandwiches come with "sassy sauce", which is a horseradish, mustard, and mayonnaise sauce that brings out even more flavor from these delicious burgers. Drinks include a full bar, reverse osmosis water, tea, and a full range of Maine Root sodas, including my favorite, black cherry. I have been to HopDoddy's several times now, and each time the burger has been excellent. The only semi-disappointing thing about the place is the fries, which can be a little too crispy and dry for my taste, although on my last visit, the fries were very good as well. The portions are generous, the burgers are very flavorful, and it is a treat to eat in a restaurant that actively supports eco-sustainability in their practices. There is sometimes a long line to place an order, but while you are in line, you get a table number and by the time you are done ordering, the table is ready for you. The burgers are brought to the table - the drinks are self-serve. Prices are reasonable - especially compared to other dining options in the area, which can be much more expensive. The place is always crowded - and for good reason. The ambience, eco-friendly practices, and the tasty food are worth the wait.
