“Very impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW via mobile

I was so impressed by this hotel from the moment our cab pulled up to the front and the doorman leapt up to help us with our bags. There was a very fresh scent in the lobby, not overpowering, and chilled water with lemons on a nearby table. The check in staff were very helpful and we got free wifi for being IHG members. Our room was spacious, spotless and tastefully decorated with high end furnishings. We had a king deluxe room on the 12th floor and it had a queen sleeper sofa for my teen daughter. We ate lunch at The Roaring Fork, the hotel's restaurant, and it was delicious and reasonably priced. We ordered room service that night and it was quick and tasty. The location is perfect as we were able to safely walk to Austin City Limits for a concert and view the Capitol at night. The concierge staff arranged for a brownie plate in honor of my birthday (my daughter secretly requested it), which was a special touch when we arrived. Overall, an impeccable hotel that I would highly recommend. Oh, and it was friendlier to my wallet than The W or Four Seasons!!!

Hello, and happy (belated) birthday from the InterContinental! So glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and so many of the nearby venues, and, hope that we get to host you again the next time you venture out of NM and back to the Austin area! Thanks again and take care.

We had a great nice here until the last night where my girlfriend woke up with about 10 ants crawling around her. Plenty more was to be found on the floor. We had left a bag of chips on the floor the evening before, which was the center of the ants attention, but you wouldn't expect there to be ants in a room on the 15th (14th since the 13th magically disappeared) floor anyhow. We should maybe have reported it when we saw to on the bedspread when checking in the first day, but figured it was nothing and didn't see them the second day either.

As we both work in the hospitality industry we know that his can happen from time and is almost impossible to avoid with so many travelers from different countries, but would maybe have expected it to be taken a bit more serious when reporting it. We got offered a free breakfast, but already had this included (seems like the standard answer) and also had to run to the airport to catch an early plane.

As it happened alike an hour before we left it didn't really destroy the stay for us in any way, let's consider it the alarm clock :) Otherwise the stay was therefore nice. Service is good, location is really great and they also have an indoor pool that we didn't get to use. Breakfast was ok, and I would have accepted it as a continental breakfast, but when seeing what they charge for this "buffet", it's not worth it. We had it included but that was of course calculated into our total price.

There was also a comedy festival in Austin when we stayed there which was great as the hotel was kind of the HQ of the festival. It ment that parts of the bar was closed for guests attending the festival, but as we also catched the show we got access. We even ended up in the VIP-department, although I don't think that was supposed to happen. Must be our nice personalities...

All in all a very nice hotel in a nice location which, at least when we where there, provided ok value for money compared to budget hotels, as everything in town where expensive those days.

Hello and thank you for the feedback Thomas1406. I do apologize for the ant problem you encountered during your stay. We conduct pest inspection regularly and generally do not experience any issues with them, particularly ants. I guess your chips were too tempting for them! I do apologize though, and if you would care to discuss further please don't hesitate to give me a shout here at the hotel. Again, our thanks and hope to see you again one day. Take care.

I joined my husband on a business trip and we decided to stay at this hotel. There was a shuttle to the convention center for his meetings, but I don't know if that is a usual thing so you'll need to check with the front desk. There are two restaurants located in the hotel so you don't need to leave if you don't want too, but there are so many good places in town to eat at that you'll need to venture out at some point. We had an executive suite and it was very clean. This room type included a bar area, desk to work on, separate seating area and a king bed. We had a street view and could not hear any noise from outside. There is an indoor pool and fitness center in the lower level. Our room included access to the club room on the lobby level which I highly recommend trying to book a rate with it included or signing up for the IHG reward program to take advantage of this perk. The club has a continental breakfast in the morning and a happy hour with adult beverages included in the evening. It's a great place to meet up with friends before heading out. The bar on the second floor has plenty of signature cocktail items and a decent bar menu. The only flaw that I could find with this hotel compared to the Four Seasons was that the pool was indoors. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I would suggest booking the flexible room rate for the executive suite. We were on a higher floor at...

We feel so fortunate to have this wonderful location, within easy walking distance to so many Austin venues, from restaurants to live music (sometimes both in one venue!). Thank you for taking time to write a few lines, and hope that we're able to welcome you back to the InterContinental one day soon. Take care.

I've now stayed at this hotel on several different occasions for both business and vacation stays. Most recently, it was our base station after riding the BPMS 150. As a result, we had a lot of family come visit us in our room and/or bar area to relax and relive our "glory." While we were, I'm sure, a bit rambunctious, the bar folks on Sunday afternoon (sorry, don't recall their names) did all to make us welcome and comfortable. As always, the rooms were spacious and comfortable.

I especially want to thank Jamiliah Paschal who did all she could to accommodate our group including putting us all on the same floor and for her quick responses to entirely too many emails on my part.

We'll be back.

Great location - close to 6th St, State Capitol building and walking distance to a number of restaurants. Hotel itself is pleasant - gym has a good range of equipment (if a little dated) and the pool does the job if you fancy a swim (be warned though, it is a lap pool not a full swimming pool). If you join the IC loyalty club you get your WIFI for free.

We had a standard room and it was pleasant enough. Staff were really friendly. Neither reception nor the bell boy knew how to get public transport to the Greyhound depot which was a little surprising and concierge seemed to be present only occasionally but they were minor gripes overall.

Didn't eat in the hotel - Annies for breakfast, near 4th St was a great option. Franks for lunch was also fun but the portions are huge.

Possible to get public transport from the airport to the hotel - the airport bus drops off on the intersection of Congress and 4th and it just a small walk up Congress to the hotel from there. Wouldn't use Greyhound from Austin unless you're prepared for a 30 min trip out of town to get to the terminal (why would you not have your terminal in the actual city centre?!). Anyway, enjoyed our mini visit to Austin and the hotel is a good choice.

Was expecting a larger hotel (was thinking of the Chicago location, perhaps?). Nice hotel, helpful staff. Pool (small) and fitness center were in the basement, which was a minus. Nice 2nd floor terrace to have a drink or a bite. I was a bit surprised that on two days I returned to my room around 2 pm and the room wasn't cleaned yet - had to leave and read in the lobby while the room was cleaned. I appreciated the front desk informing me up front when checking in that my Klimpton points applied to that visit!

Room Tip: I was on the 7th floor facing south Congress - was quiet
