“dont let 4 stars scare you Im a tough grader”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

My daughter and I stayed for 4 nights as a girls get-a-way . Loved it. Food was excellent so glad we went with the "total" package (food included plus credit for activities or spa) was totally worth it, as it allowed us to have a body massage every day without costing extra!!
Activities are great, wish they had more evening ones but I am an early to bed love my sleep kinda girl. We had a couple of times when they were fully booked (frustrating) you have to sign up early for the popular ones. The equine experience was wonderful. Nearly everyone that works there is incredibly gracious and helpful. Our wait staff were so attentive. Expensive but worth it and a different experience from your run of the mill 5 star hotel.

Room Tip: get top floor we had entry level - view was not the best

alixtravelagent,
I really appreciate your review, even if you are a tough grader! I am glad that you and your daughter had such a good time. You'll be happy to hear that we're adding a bunch of new activities - both day and evening - this fall, so next time you come you'll have more choices than ever for great things to do.
All the best,

Stayed recently two nights and had a blast. Excellent service, amazing views and a very cool philosophy. Just what the GF and I needed to get away for a few days. We spent one day by the gorgeous infinity pool and one day doing all of the activities. Jeans Kitchen was amazing as well.

This property offers the serenity and peace in a beautiful (for Texas) environment. Located 30 minutes from downtown Austin, it is like you are in another world. Spent an anniversary 4 day stay. Lots of activities (free and a la carte) to keep the adventure traveller interested. Food was very good, if not small portions by Texan standard. Our room was small, but comfortable. For the price the rooms could use a little more upscale treatment, the location more than makes up for this deficiency. Looking forward to trying their Hawaii location

I had stayed in Travaasa Hana before so I was curious about their Austin property.

The room itself was very nice - dark and shaded, EXTREMELY comfortable beds, nice size, good sized bathroom. The restaurant, which is pretty much the only place you can find to eat in the area, is thankfully good, as is their service. The spa is also very nice, and the staff there was very accommodating since we had to check out of our rooms right after our massages. They let us bring our stuff to the spa locker room and use it as a "home base" while we showered, etc.

Great service. Great getaway for Texans.

I can't not say enough good things about this resort. It is, by far, the best experience at resort that I have ever had. These folks make you feel like family and no detail is spared for your comfort. The experiences and classes they offer have something for everyone, and if you just want to veg out at the infinity pool, sauna, and hot tub, you can do that too. You can rest easy with the no tipping policy because everyone there goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The rooms are fabulous, everything recycled or green in some way. The food is beyond compare - simply delicious. It wasn't crowded at all. The spa is wonderful and I highly reccomend trying their services. It was so hard to go home after being pampered so!

Room Tip: Ask for a casita near the pool.

There are lots of activities. Many wellness programs including many types of yoga. A full spa. The challenge zip line was a short 250 feet but a blast! The morning heart starter hike will definitely get your heart started.

This is an adults-only (over 16 years) resort, located just outside Austin. Despite the proximity of the city, it feels like you're a million miles away. The resort is true to its location, with native landscaping and locally grown food. There is even a farm on location where much of the produce is organically grown and the chickens lay the eggs for breakfast. The food is very fresh and delicious. You can choose from and all-inclusive package, which includes a spa credit, or an a la carte fee. Both include all of the activities, but even the all-inclusive package does not include alcohol. There is ample bottled water available throughout the resort, a necessity in this climate.

We did not try the spa, as we didn't have time, so I can't speak to the quality of the treatments.

The rooms are adequately spacious, and the bedding is very comfortable. I do not usually care for scents, but there is a really nice scent they use in the rooms. There are private balconies, and your room either overlooks the canyon, or the trails inside the resort. They are currently remodeling additional rooms, but at the moment it feels very intimate.

There is an infinity pool that overlooks the lake, with a hot tub and dry sauna. Poolside service is available during the day with drinks and lighter food.

The activities are varied and frequent, making it easy to pick and choose. Some of the activities require you to sign up ahead of time, and a few require an extra fee, but we were able to do everything we wanted without any difficulty. We did the challenge course, in which you traverse a course 35 feet above the ground, and an equine encounter, in which you learn how to communicate and direct horses. The yoga and meditation classes were also very good, with excellent instructors. The meditation is in an amazing building in the woods. All of the staff were incredibly positive and friendly. There is a built-in 18% gratuity, so there is no tipping in the resort. My husband tried to tip one of the staff and was told that it was built in to the cost already.

We felt so incredibly relaxed while there, and can't wait to go back. The only (minor) complaints would be the television stations are very few and the set up is difficult to navigate, and there were very few evening programs. We attended the star gazing, which was really good (except for all of the pool lighting), but only offered on one night. The dance classes were in the afternoon, and had to share space with the fitness equipment during the remodel. It would have been nice to have dancing, music, or something else in the evening.

Room Tip: The canyon rooms are more private that the trail rooms.
