“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

First the pros: beautiful space, attentive staff, inventive presentation, some delicious plates (brussels sprouts, koviche diver scallops and hama chili yellowtail). Cons: expensive, some very average plates (crunchy tuna roll, sake toro salmon sashimi), and a pork belly plate (bacon tataki) which was badly prepared - the large size of the meat pieces made them difficult to eat. Would not be in a rush back here.

“Always Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Quite simply I consider this the best restaurant in Austin. If you love sushi, you must go! Service is always top notch and the food is fresh and inventive. If you like traditional sushi or sashimi they have a great selection of the freshest fish. Although I don't personally love some of their innovative flavor combos, the ones I prefer blow me away and the food quality is always the best. Sure, it's pricey, but it's worth it.

“Over rated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

I have eaten in several Sushi restuarants and this one is not a Sushi restuarant, it is more like a place to be seen. The food was great however, the portions were less than acceptable and the prices were way too high. I loved Austin but I won't go back to this restuarant

“Liked this place”

They also have very good service. The food was good. I felt a little expansive. Worth a visit. This was a great place for small ensemble dishes of raw fish or cooked meats, done with creativity and great presentation.

“Price and portion size detract from quality.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Uchiko is very popular based on the crowd but in my opinion that is due to a " see and be seen" attitude.

My rating is based on quality of food only. Small portions and cost were negative.
