Austin has a large population of runners and Town Lake (now known as Lady Bird Lake) is the most popular running spot downtown and is just a walk away from all of the downtown hotels. With relatively flat, well maintained 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10 mile loops, this running trail is great for all runners. The local running store, RunTex, sets out ice-cold water jugs, at two locations along the trail, for all to enjoy. The trail is most crowded on Saturday and Sunday mornings and after work on weekdays during the cool spring. Summer afternoon heat in Austin can be brutal, so be warned.
