“Take the Tour & Watch your Step”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

This little gem is tucked away just shy of downtown and a must-see for even native Austinites. The docent we had [Laura] was perfect-she knew the history of the property, Ms. Driscoll's life, and the on-site sculptures. There is some rocky terrain and steps for the property, but well worth the stroll. Bring mosquito repellant and definitely look down at the mulch before looking up at any outside sculptures. I was covered in red [stinging] ants in a millisecond...

“Lush Landscape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013 via mobile

I stumbled onto this place following a scenic drive. It is a hidden gem, among tall trees and a lake. The house is historic, and has an English style garden. Go down the steps and enjoy a scenic lake, walk in the woods and see tall trees stretching in canopies. The art school has a museum, and a pottery studio/kiln. It was my last stop befor flying home, and im glad I did. Made me leave Austin with a smile.

“Relaxing Venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Wonderful venue for relaxing walks near water. Many outside sculptures. Live peacocks!
Both Lakeside facility and downtown location are worth the trip.

These venues would be especially nice for couples, families, friends or solo.

They have an Art School you can check out for art classes.

Venues can be booked for weddings.

“Beautiful grounds and an Austin classic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

One of my favorite places to go in Austin. It's located in the historic Driscoll mansion, which was recently restored. The grounds have also been somewhat restored, just enough. There is sculpture tastefully placed around the grounds, but there isn't a sense of being overwhelmed by it. There are peacocks! You can walk out by the Lake, and around the grounds. It's a great place for a wedding, very romantic. The art in the building itself tends to be in very small exhibits, since the main location moved downtown... so if you're looking for a full-on art museum experience with lots of stuff hanging on white walls, this isn't the place for you. If you want a gorgeous bit of Austin to experience, the go. It's where I was when I decided to move her. It's that beautiful. Did I mention the peacocks?

If you go, there are two other places nearby you might enjoy-- Mayfield Park, a lovely place for a short hike although you can't get inside the building, and Mount Bonnell-- a bit of the inactive Balcones Fault that is pushed up above the river-- great views.

The Art School, which is housed at Laguna Gloria is a great place to take classes.

“Not really an art museum”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

I'm not sure what is going on with this place but it is not a museum. We paid $10 for the whole family (which is cheap) but there is nothing to do or look at. We rubbed ice on paint powder to make some pictures, but that's it. There is not are to observe. When I asked the person who takes your money where the art was, he said that you could look around the lobby. The lobby contained about 5 pictures hanging on the walls that looked like they came from Target.
