ZERO STARS. This place rips people off and then tries to makes their customers feel bad about it.
With five friends on a Saturday night, we ordered two cheese plates (nothing exceptional) and two bottles of wine priced at $11 each. I was shocked and pleased at how cheap this wine was, as it was also fairly tasty. I checked other prices of wine on the menu to make sure it was not a misprint. Sure enough, about 5 or 6 other wines were around the same price. When the check was delivered to our table, the wine was now magically priced at $28 per bottle. I alerted the server to the discrepancy between the menu price and the price we were being asked to pay. Her response was unbelievable. "Surely you didn't really think you could buy a bottle of wine for $11." Since I have more manners than this person, I responded with, "I understand the price point is lower than most wine bars around town, but since it is clearly printed in the menu, I had no reason to believe that I could not buy this particular bottle of wine for $11." So, now we ask for the manager...
Manager: "Obviously this is a misprint. If you had questions on the price, that could have been taken care of at the beginning of the evening."
Me: (in my head) "So, you're asking me, as a customer, to assume all prices are incorrect and I need to double check BEFORE an order is placed?"
Me: (outloud) "That doesn't change the fact that the menu states one price and you're asking me to pay another. Can you please honor what your menu states?"
Manager: "You know, we've had this issue come up before, but no one else has made a big deal of it."
What Manager really meant: "You know, we've had this issue come up before, but no one else acted like a cheapskate and they just paid the exorbant difference in price."
It went on and on from there. But here is my favorite quote of the night from the manager: "The owner is aware of the misprints in the menu and they will not change them, There's a lot of menus and it would be expensive to reprint them."
Needless to say, I will never patronize this establishment ever again, nor will my friends or family. The staff at Uncorked have no concept of customer service.
