My wife and I have been fans of this property for many years. We stayed for two nights during the Fourth of July Holiday and opted to cut our trip short and check out early. Many aspects of the property met our expectations with one key exception. Dogs everywhere. Dogs in the hallway. Dogs in the elevators. Dogs in the main lobby. Dogs in the SPA lobby. Dogs in the rooms. The occupants of the room next to us chose to lock their two dogs in the room and place the Do Not Disturb sign on the door throughout the day. The dogs would bark and yelp incessantly. We have scoured the hotel's website for information on the pet policy. No luck. There is no question pets had been in our room. We are dog lovers but the thought of staying in a premium resort knowing someone's pet has likely shared the furniture in our room with us is beyond our comfort zone. We shared this experience with friends who have stayed at the property. They were shocked as well. We totally get the "Austin" PAW angle on this but guests should be notified in advance that rooms are pet friendly.

Room Tip: Inquire as to whether pet free rooms are available.

Thank you for your recent review regarding Four Seasons Hotel Austin and our pet policy. We appreciate hearing your concerns and are glad to have an opportunity to share some of the safeguards we have in place to ensure all of our guests - human and canine - have an enjoyable stay.

As you noted, Four Seasons Hotel Austin is a pet-friendly hotel as are most Four Seasons company wide. That said, we are sensitive to those who prefer to vacation without pets and therefore seven of our nine floors are reserved for such guests. In times of high occupancy, we are sometimes forced to assign non-pet owners to these floors, but - as you noted in your great tip - we encourage guests to mention at the time of booking if they wish to be placed on one of our other floors. For those who do stay on pet floors, rest assured our housekeeping department conducts an extensive deep clean following the check-out of all rooms where pets have been present, including a full top-to-bottom cleaning of the carpet and furniture.

We were also very sorry to hear you were disturbed by one of our canine guests as our pet policy - which is communicated (both verbally and in writing) to pet owners upon check-in - clearly states that pets should never be left unattended. Unfortunately, your neighboring guests chose not to abide by this rule. When we do receive a guest complaint regarding pets left alone in a room, we always arrange for a pet sitter in the guest's absence to ensure that the disturbance does not continue. We regret that we were not able to help fix the problem during your recent visit.

You mentioned that you and your wife are fans of the property and we do hope that you will return to us in the future. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like assistance planning your next visit. I'd be happy to personally note in your reservation that you'd like a non-pet floor!

We stay here several times a year and always enjoy it! Recently we stayed over the 4th of July weekend with our 2 and 5 year old girls. They always offer a crib, small refrigerator and complimentary kids toiletries. The hotel is not cheap but the service is excellent and all the complimentary touches make it well worth the price IMO. They had a nice 4th of July party by the pool with complimentary lunch buffet. Pool is always fun. A mix of families, couples and singles. Staff is attentive at the pool and offer complimentary fruit, smoothies and frozen grapes throughout the day. The hotel property faces lady bird lake and offers city or lake view rooms. We had a lake view balcony room and were able to watch the bats come out each night. We were also able to see some of the fireworks on the 4th however our view was somewhat limited due to otehr buildings (we knew this would be the case and were just happy to see some fireworks). Trio is a great dining option and is located on the ground floor which overlooks the grounds. We enjoy dining on the patio at Trio. Trio offered a wonderful 4th of July buffett with short ribs, BBQ shrimp and lots of other yummy food. The bar is always festive at night with good food/beverage offerings and live music. We enjoyed running every morning along the trails at the base of the hotel along the lake. Their is a dock on the water below the hotel which our girls love to stand on and watch the turtles and fish. Lots of people canoeing and paddle boarding on the lake. There is a rental place on the lake right below the FS hotel. The hotel is within walking distance to 2nd street area which offers nice shopping, The Children's museum and many dining choices. Highly recommend this hotel for families, couples or girls weekend.

Friendliness and professionalism from the front door to the front desk. It is in a great location on the beautiful lake. Request a lake view!Maid service twice a day, they even folded up our old clothes that was thrown around the room.You can walk to 6th street or the convention center easily. I did not use the restaurant.

Room Tip: If you want a great view I would request something over the 5th story.

I love this hotel! I have stayed here many, many times over the years and I still love it just as much. It has a Texas feel, which I really like. The back of the hotel overlooks the lake (although the trees have grown so tall it’s hard to see). There is a gently rolling hill down to the bike/jogging path, which is a beehive of activity. You are in downtown Austin but honestly feel like you are at a resort in the country. It’s very serene and peaceful. There are hammocks and benches outside for relaxation. Just overall a great vibe.
The rooms are a good size, which is important to me. The bathroom is decent, not opulent but just fine. I had a lovely view of trees. The bed was comfortable. I know the hotel allows dogs as I saw quite a few. The service was generally very good. Overnight parking is $32.50, which seems pretty steep, but maybe that is market rate for downtown. A glass of wine in the happening bar was $10, which seems quite reasonable. The bar is a great place to people watch and visit. The food is consistently good at the restaurant and there is a beautiful outdoor seating area in nice weather.
I had a couple of glitches in my room but the engineer was very quick to get those fixed, which I appreciated. I did not visit the spa or the gym but they looked nice. I did visit the pool, which was a super way to spend an afternoon. There are attendants to bring you drink or food if desired. I couldn’t have been happier with my visit and highly recommend the Four Seasons!

Spent four days here on business. The hotel is nice, but service was hit and miss. For example, some times I had doormen opening doors and offering me water, and other times, I was ignored. Same thing in the restaurant Trio. First night for dinner, I had excellent service from Justin. The next day at breakfast, the waiter ignored me for ten minutes, then, took my order, brought it, and never came back until he brought my bill. The next night, I brought a VIP musician. As I went to drop off my briefcase in the room, he asked for a table. They first told him no problem, then, said it would be a 15 minute wait because they were short staffed. They had 1waiter. The bus boy was pulled from lawn maintenance to cover. My grouper was cold when it arrived, and it took forever. Very embarrassed in front of my guests.

The room was comfortable and quiet, however, I noticed long black hair on the bathroom floor that was not mine! It stayed for a day until I picked it up.

In this price range, I expect more than just good...

I can't think of a single thing that could have been better except the wifi service. Even during checkout when the billing system failed, I was allowed to proceed and have my final receipt emailed. The cocktail lounge is amazing, the pool was the best and the two breakfasts we ate at in the restaurant there were to die for. I almost wish I had never stayed there because now I am spoiled.

Let me give you an example. Most hotels have pools...even nice pools. This had a cabana, a bar and a place to get communal supplies like toys, sunscreen and towels. I overheard a guest asking an attendant to get him swim goggles, and I laughed...until the attendant actually brought him the goggles.

When the valet would give us our car, he would offer us water for the drive. They have a free shoe shining service and a laundry service. The bed was super-comfy. I never once had to adjust the air room temperature.

I loved this hotel and will stay there any chance I get.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Four Seasons Austin. I can't think of anything negative to say. Everything was perfect!! We were able to walk or take pedicabs to almost everywhere we went. We took the city transit bus to and from the hotel which was more comfortable than a cab and cost only $1 each way per person.
