“Authentic feeling, incl. musty odor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

I like pubs. Really, I do. Maybe we went during the day with kids, which killed the experience. The food was fantastic absolutely no complaints there. Definitely try the fish and chips and Shepards pie. The service was equally as good. This combination so far would normally make the pub a 5 star in my book. However, the smell of spilled beer on the wood floor and in the cloth benches along with the lack of light was annoying to me. Again, I do realize its a pub, and yes, I have spent time in UK pubs. Go for the food, the beer and to watch a game on tv, but if you go to hang out with the family, you will probably go and leave as soon as you finish eating.

“It is a Pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

We went there for dinner and although what we had was very good, the menu is rather limited. The menu is an English Pub menu. I had the Fish and Chips very good but only tartar sauce no cocktail sauce available. Nice beer selection and very pleasant outdoor seating. Service was good once the waitress found us. Understaffed?

We grabbed a late night bite to eat here and were pleased with the good and variety if drinks. Bar staff and patrons were cool.

“Casual Hangout with Good Pub Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We walked in and had to look around for a table for a minute. We found out after grabbing a table that you need to request service at the table, otherwise patrons just order at the bar. We tried a medley of appetizers that included cheese fries, fish and chips, and the chips and bean salsa. We really liked the cheese fries because they alternated the layers of fries and cheese several times – not just pouring all the cheese on the top. The service was fine and food was good.

The bar has a strong college-dive vibe along with a popular porch area and a lot of brews on tap. I’d characterize this as a “very good 3” in that it doesn’t really aspire to be something more than it is. It strikes me as a place that is very comfortable for locals and college students who know the routine and attend regularly, but not necessarily the best stop for one-time visitors – and that’s not a bad thing, just something to keep in mind before choosing this bar over other options you may have in Austin.

“Old school pub with great grub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Liked the ambiance. Cozy but bustling with locals (young urban professionals) and a few tourists. Great selection of beers and pub fare.
