My husband purchased tickets for the Austin Steam Train to celebrate my birthday. He went all out and purchased the most expensive seats. They weren't worth the price. BUT, the train ride was nice and relaxing. Some of the cars are air conditioned, some are not. We moved to a car that was not air conditioned, but we were traveling in the evening so the ride was pleasant. The scenery is a mix of greenery, neighborhoods, and heavily traveled roads. Remember it is following a set of train tracks that were not built specifically for the attraction and all will be well. The crew was nice and knowledgeable. Suggestion: Read the website (austinsteamtrain.org) before buying your tickets. It is excellent in explaining what to expect, including the unexpected.
