Owner description: If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

“Very interesting tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

This is an impressive building in a lovely setting in downtown Austin. We took the free guided tour which is offered every 15 minutes and it was very informative. Make sure you see the 'sunny' underground office spaces- what a cool engineering and architectural feat.

I truly enjoyed the walk through... Interesting to see the photos on the walls with grandchildren of the members :)
Learning that in the 1920's the Governor was a woman - surprised. Overall, great place to visit!
