Must see for out of towners. Helpful to get a tour if you've never been. I'm a lobbyist, so I spend a lot of time there. It's one of the better places in Austin to take visitors. It's a beautiful, historic building and free to all. Be prepared to go through metal detectors, and feel free to ask for directions inside the building. People are friendly in general.

I loved being able to go to the capitol and speak with the Senators/Representatives and/or their aides whom all provided feedback and some ideas on why thiings are they way they are for education in the State of Texas.

I've lived all over the country, but in my opinion the Texas State Capitol building is the most beautiful of all.

“Beautiful and stately Capitol”

If visiting Capitol buildings is your cup of tea, this one is not to be missed. In typical Texas fashion, the Texas Capitol rotunda is the tallest in the land (including the US Capitol building), and the facility and grounds are beautifully maintained. There's a large, newer annex, where much of the committee work is done. Texans are very proud of their history, and the Capitol in Austin is a great place to spend a little time learning about it.

“Full of History. Beautiful Architecture”

A must see in Austin. The Capitol is kept in perfect condition and features some of the most important works of art in Texas. The Architecture and engineering leaves nothing to be desired, and it's free to visit. Try to take one of the free, guided tours if available.
