The hotel is right off hwy 290E. It's fronted by a large Mexican cafe/bar. The after hours staff is family and receptive and helpful, they even provided me with an ethernet cord when my wireless did not work.. We asked for a smoking and were informed that they had just redone the non smoking rooms and we were offerred an opportunity to check both before we decided. Well, the main reason we found the hotel was the Super 8 was full for our room preference. As we parked we noticed several undersirable persons hanging over the railings smoking, mothers and children hanging out in the stair wells to kill the time. We were sent to a room 2nd floor down a dark hallway(outside mind you). The room was what you would expect, from a similar priced hotel (no complaints here). But starting at 1030 pm or so, we were subject to loud drunken banging and screams coming from nearby rooms. My wife was terrified and even after the police were called the noise would subside then resume, my wife hardly slept at all. If you don't carry a weapon I wouldn't stay here. Reminded us of the movie "Vacant". When I went to grab breakfast at 830am the door was locked and there was no breakfast. The owner apologized and unlocked the door and proceeded to make coffee and offer some vending machine type muffins and danish. Apparently no one usually comes down on Sunday morning for breakfast according to the manager.
I explained to the manager what had occurred during the night and stated he was aware that the police had been called and the residents that had been there for several days were being asked to leave. I requested a 20%discount for the terror and lack of sleep and was told it was a problem that the hotel did not cause, and did what they could by calling police, He also said we could have asked for another room. Hello, it's 1030 at night, screaming drunk trying to break into an adjoining room, and he wants my wife and I to relocate...Yeah, maybe with a police escort!
Fortunately our vehicle wasn't broken into, we both expected it to be.. If you care about your loved ones safety or your own, don't stay here.
