“Wish we had stayed longer!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013 via mobile

The fact that this hotel is also an apartment complex didn't bother us. The pool was nice & the rooms were big (again... Not bothered by the 80's motif.) the grounds were pretty & the staff were helpful. It seemed like a nice neighborhood. Breakfast was okay & they had fresh baked cookies at night. We 'd stay again!

Reserved a room with king bed for Saturday 8/10 - was given a room with two full beds which were very uncomfortable. The clerk said he couldn't do anything except take ten dollars off my bill, and that a manager wouldn't be available until Monday. On checkout, the ten dollars weren't deducted. Called the manager Monday who made excuses, offered no remedy and said he would check the computer and call me back that morning, which he didn't. DON'T ALLOW THEM TO RIP YOU OFF

Clean and tidy but a bit dated. Looked better in the pictures ! I thought we were closer to downtown but the roads are good and it doesn't take long to get into the city. Free breakfast and wi-fi. Server it's purpose but would look for something better if visiting again.

I was a bit apprehensive in booking this hotel since apartment conversions to hotels generally are not successful. However, this one was surprisingly good. Great location, very clean rooms, typical budget hotel furnishings. I asked for and got a room on the ground floor near the office. Overall I was very pleased and will be staying here again on my next Austin visit.

Room Tip: ground floor near the office.

This hotel is NOT what it says it is! I booked this hotel because it had a 3* rating but when we arrived it was more like 1*. It was terrible!! The complex is made up of Condos with 3 blocks of "hotel" rooms. When we entered our room it was like stepping back in time about 20years everything was 70's or 80's decor. There was wall paper peeling off the walls, the carpets were wrinkled, after 15 minutes of crawling around my 10 month old had completely black knees and toes. We had a reservation for 5 people and they only have us two towels and one of the towels when I opened it had bugs on it. The swimming pool was full of bugs, rocks, leaves and feathers. I pulled my baby out of the water, which I really probably shouldn't have put her in to begin with, and she had dead bugs on her swim suit. There was a notice on our door telling us the water would be shut off for maintenance at 10 am when I questioned it and asked for another room they promised the water wouldn't be off in my building but sure enough by 10 am it was only dropping from the taps. Check in wasn't until 4pm and they weren't willing to budge on this time at all. Anytime we asked them anything, to change rooms, for a room receipt or even to just use a different card for payment they said we needed to contact Hotels.com which is whom we booked with.

On the plus side the children enjoyed the continental breakfast which was fruit loops, raisin bran, frozen waffles, frozen sausage biscuits, blue berry muffins, toast and small bagels.

I travel to Austin frequently due to my work, and every time I stay at the Allandale Hotel. This previously an apartments property that has been turned into a hotel, so you can imagine that every room is an apartment. Very comfortable with its living room area w/TV, full kitchenette, refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, etc and the bedroom can be isolated for privacy.

Pricing is very competitive and the location is very convenient, a wide diversity of restaurants and fast-food chains are in a walking distance reach, banks, pharmacies, super-markets, etc.

I always enjoy my stays in this property and although there are several other hotels in the area, nothing beats the commodity of an apartment when you compare to the limited space of a hotel room.

Nice and safe location, neat and clean rooms, plus good pricing.

Our son lives in Allandale and this hotel is so convenient,no need to get on the busy and confusing if you do not live here highways. The suite was clean and very nice. We stayed 5 nights and would definitely stay there again on our next trip.
