“Made for a nice week in Austin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

I was in town for some seminars at the University of Texas (Austin) Professional Development Center. Other properties are closer, but I like the Arboretum area. This Residence Inn is co-located with a Marriott Courtyard. They are both tucked in an out-of-the way area and not highly visible (but are very quiet). They both have quick access to either Mo-Pac or Research Blvd. The Residence Inn itself is very nice. The Front Desk staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The property is well kept and also very quiet. The breakfast meals were pretty standard, but the Monday through Thursday Manager events were better than average. The meals were more unique and the dining area was always well maintained. If you wish to dine out, the Arboretum area has changed as the Domain has expanded, but Baby A's, Cheesecake Factory, North-By-Northwest and other restaurants are nearby. Of course, there is a wide selection of the trendiest restaurants and shops at the still not far away Domain. I have previously stayed at the nearby full-service Renaissance Arboretum (with a nice Concierge Lounge and free room Wi-Fi for Platinum members), but I like the larger rooms, easy in-out access, close parking, and quietness at this well-managed Residence Inn.

I last stayed at this Residence Inn back in 2010, with several stays over the period of a month. I returned here because of that previous experience - and will continue to do so in the future. It's outside of the downtown core, and away from the airport, but in a nice little community area. It's actually right next door to the Courtyard, which allows you access to their indoor pool if you'd like.

Service-wise, it can't be beat. Four days before my trip was about to begin I received an email from their sales manager, welcoming me back and asking if I had any special requests or bookings I would like to make. Very rarely have I had hotels contact me ahead of time personally, despite being top-tier.

Upon arrival I was warmly greeted, and again asked if there was anything they could do to make my stay better. I didn't stay long enough this time for them to get to know my name, but it was always friendly interactions.

The room was the same as I remember it from years ago - red-coloured, with a little dated furniture. It was a one-bedroom suite, with everything needed for cooking.

Breakfast was great as always - a wide array of options, more then you would get from other hotels. I also love the Texas-shaped waffle maker, and the kitchen staff were always friendly and attentive - again, the service!

Most weeknights they also have a dinner prepared, which provides great options. Perhaps not always enough for a complete meal, but enough to complement a meal. Even better, they are very helpful when you ask if you can eat back in your room - no "eat-in only" policy.

Facility-wise, we had an issue with ants in our kitchen twice. The second time they seemed to completely die off, but it was a little annoying to have them walking over food as you cooked dinner. But hey, it's Texas!

The gym is very lacking - a single treadmill, elliptical, and bike, with a few weights. At the same time it was never busy enough when I tried to use it that machines weren't available. I had a surprise from my last stay though - the outdoor jacuzzi had been filled in with concrete, which was too bad - I used to love sitting in it under the stars.

This is a great hotel in the Austin area, and I highly recommend it for anyone - business or vacation.

Room Tip: Choose a 3rd floor room - as an older hotel you'll hear footsteps above on the lower floors. No...

I work with a 15u baseball team that travels all over Texas, Oklahoma and Florida for baseball tournaments. Recently we needed to find accommodations in Austin for 4 day tournament. Kaylee Williems and her team at the Residence Inn Austin Stepped up and not only welcomed us in, but made us feel like we were long lost family. The entire staff from house keeping, front desk to maintenance knew who we were, why we were there and made sure we had everything we needed.

I can't recommend any hotel more than i can this one for its outstanding staff, facility and location for getting around Austin. If you have a group and need housing, contact Kaylee at the hotel and tell her the Storm Baseball Team sent you.

My family stayed July 1-7. we were there ti watch our son and the baseball team he plays with play in the World Series. When we got there our check in took less than 5 minutes. Our room was great!! The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to make our Baseball Club ( The TEXAS Drillers 13 U Majors ) feel at home and just like family, they even bought the team a cookie cake wishing them good luck. It had all the accommodations of home. Boys enjoyed the sports court. I miss them already and would stay there again and again.

We stayed at this hotel five nights last week. We were there to watch our grandson play in a baseball tournament. The entire team stayed there along with parents and a few grandparents. The rooms were clean, the air conditioners worked well, and it was fairly quiet. They have a full hot breakfast that was very good. Also they serve snacks Monday through Thursday in the evening. They had Frito pie one night, hamburgers and hot dogs one night, fajitas one night, etc.. They had beer, wine, and soft drinks also. One night they brought a giant cookie that was decorated with the team's name out to the pool to give to the boys!

The boys enjoyed playing basketball on the sports court they had which was nice for them to have something to do when not playing baseball.

The staff was the best of any hotel we have ever stayed!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the room where the bedroom was separate and had a TV in the living room and one in the be...

Dear njdb,

Thank you for taking time out of your day to tell other travelers about your experience with us! One of the perks of Residence Inn’s by Marriott is our daily full hot breakfast buffet, as well as our evening social hour where we serve beer, wine and soft drinks in addition to a full dinner, which of course is included in our nightly rates! Your comment regarding our staff and how we are the best of any hotel that you have ever stayed was absolutely marvelous to hear! Thanks again and we can’t wait for you and the baseball team to come back next year!!

Have a wonderful day!

We had an urgent need for a temporary residence due to an emergency with our home. The staff were excellent and very helpful. My wife and I stayed with our two small children. The free breakfast and free cookies at night certainly made our stay enjoyable. The value was also very good for a two bedroom suite. Property was very quiet ( with the exception of our two kids)-sorry Ron L.

This hotel was perfect for my wife and I. The rooms were very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. The hotel is pet friendly as well which was perfect for us as our little dauchsunds are our children. They even had dog treats for them when we checked in. We will definitely choose the Residence Inn Arboretum on our next trip to Austin. What a great location as well.
