“Coolest grocery store ever!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

The dining in and take out choices at the original Whole Foods store in Austin are simply beyond compare. It's like visiting a candy store, there are so many choices and its hard to decide between them. The salad bar is stunning, the vegetarian entrees and sides are tantalizing, and the cheese station had awesome choices for the most unusual grilled cheese sandwiches ever. Will definitely be back for more!

“Whole Foods salad and food bars a great way to fix your lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Whole Foods (head quarters) in Austin is an amazing place. It is big, and it has many sections to fix your own breakfast, lunch or dinner. I used it twice in a 4 day trip to Austin as I very much like the idea of mixing in exactly those ingredients I want to be mixed in with my salad, and decide myself what side dish should go with it. The prices are neither high nor low if you organise your eating-out this way.
Whole Foods on 6th / 5th and Lamar has seating to eat your food inside, outside and topside. The area above the shop includes a large play area for kids. Lots of seating, but also lots of customers.
I liked it that the seating areas are both in the sun and in the shade.
I know I will use this facility again when next visiting Austin, Texas.

“What all food shopping should be....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Whole foods just gets it. From samples to the service, they simply understand that people want and need information about food. They offer healthy alternatives and a dizzying array of take out or eat-in food right there. The breadth of offering is simply amazing and the level of quality is exceptional.

“Really?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Our guide book suggested stopping at Whole Foods for the experience of being at this big flagship store. You would think that something as simple as soup could be nicely done for a light supper. Not so. It was made without any salt or seasonings whatsoever to add flavor and without warning. Yes, we can add our own salt, but that's not the point. It's a little late to try to flavor something at the end of the cooking process. Vegetables and water is what it tasted like. It was like they forgot part of the recipe in both soups we had - the squash soup and the carrot/kale. While the 80,000 square foot store was quite a sight compared to our local versions, the soup was SORELY lacking. The cornbread was boring too. If you're going to cook without seasoning, at least tell people so they know what to expect or can choose something else.

“Best Whole foods ever..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

OK. This is the Whole Foods' landmark location so the fact that it's the best location is expected but seriously. Vegan to BBQ. Steak to Fish. Everything was just amazing. I wish I lived in Austin to go there frequently.
