“A Touch Of Artistic Class!”

Julies Backyard Bistro

My husband and I travel to the Texas coast at least twice a year (if not 3), and we make it a point to ALWAYS dine at Julie's Bistro. This restaurant has a true artistic touch of class that we have never experienced anywhere else. We have tried other recommended restaurants on the island (Port Aransas), and some of them were O.K., but none of them delivers such an intimate experience as Julie's Bistro. We truly appreciate the individuality and creativity that this restaurant has. It was literally built in her backyard! Immediately upon arrival, you feel as if you have entered a tropical paradise. There are gorgeous banana trees and palms draping a unique patio area that takes you across a small bridge, over a small pond. To each side is still more tropical trees and potted plants galore! The aroma of fresh flowers is intoxicating! The twinkling lights dancing in the trees give you a sense of a New York restaurant in Central Park in the fall. But Julie's Bistro is far more intimate. The food is truly outstanding. Everything is as fresh as it gets, and prepared to order. The seafood is the best we have ever tasted, ANYWHERE! The wine list is excellent, and complete with wines that compliment any entree. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, since there are so many others in the area (such as in Port Aransas) that are quite pricy and don't deliver the same wonderful experience. All the entrees include a fresh salad and bread, but other gourmet restaurants often charge for each course. The servers have always been knowledgeable, with suggestions when we've requested them. We would, without a doubt, recommend this one-of-a-kind restaurant to anyone. We will continue to return with our fork, knife, and wine glass ready! Bon-appetit!

Julie's Backyard Bistro is my favorite place to dine for special
occasions. The atmosphere is unique and is quiet and relaxing. The food is excellent and well prepared. In several visits
I have had different entrees and they have all been excellent.

Since all meals are specially prepared it takes awhile, but that
is to be expected. If you are in hurry it may not be the best choice
for you. For me it is the best place I know of to spend a leisurely
evening dining.

I highly recommend Julie's for a pleasant and unique evening
of dining pleasure.

“Worst dining experience in South Texas”

My husband and I went for our anniversary. Place was highly rated by local paper.

The Bistro facility was clear plastic over live oak trees with white Christmas lights. Yes, it was clear plastic draped over trees with small white lights, no kidding! This was the main dining area. It was Feb and the weather was wet and cold, and so was the eating area. It was like eating out under a painter's plastic drop cloth. I was glad I brought a coat, as I had to wear it the whole time. My husband did not, as we thought we were eating in a real restaurant. He was blue by the end of the meal, which took almost 3 hours due to slow service.

Food was very expensive (around the same price as some of the best restaurants in Corpus/Port Aransas). Wine list and service left a lot to be desired. Every year when our anniversary rolls around we talk about this experience, which is seared into our memories as our worst dining experience in South Texas.
