“Baymont Amarillo East”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Helpful and courteous staff. This hotel does NOT have an elevator, so if you have health issues (like me), be sure to specifically request a first floor room. I did not know this when the reservation was made and had to settle for a smoking room on the first floor. Lesson learned. Good breakfast, fresh coffee--everything you need for a good start to your day. Easy freeway access, too.

Thanks Suzanne for your review, and your recent stay. Sorry to hear you had to stay in a smoking room...when the hotel is busy it's difficult to accommodate everyone on the first floor, with out an elevator we try our best to make everyone as comfortable as we can. When making reservations directly with the hotel, we mention the lack of elevator, and make notes in the reservation for first floor requests.

Stains and hair in the bed in first room. Moved to another where a/c did not work and the night auditor was rude when he had to give me another room. The third room is okay so far but has an odor. I have never been this unhappy anywhere else. Staff could at least be courteous. I understand things happen but there is no need for his attitude. Sorry but I will not stay here again.

We stopped here on our way out to Arizona. It was nothing special, but nothing awful either. I slept fine, but could hear some occasional noise from the pool at the motel next door. I believe they do allow pets, so you sometimes got a strange odor in the hallways. There isn't an elevator and the stairs are strange. My husband commented that they smelled like a high school gym, which was accurate. The hotel is quite large, so you might have a bit of a walk to the breakfast area. Breakfast was good. They had your average fare - waffles, cereal, toast, etc. The waffles are shaped like Texas, which is kind of fun. I wouldn't want to stay here for more than a few nights, but it was a suitable one night stop.

Room Tip: Stay away from the side that is closest to the La Quinta to avoid noise from their outdoor pool.

Very disappointed strong cigarette odor and clumps of dog hair in the room. Place is in need of repair... couch was filthy would not even let my dogs sit on it... breakfast was meager.. was offered to assist with the odor and it was a simple little spray of something. maid was still attempting to clean after 3 when I checked in. The room service food was awful won't go back

Thanks Antoinette for your recent stay, and taking time for writing us a review. Part of the joys of being a hotel with smoking rooms, is no matter how hard we try, those smoking rooms are over powering. And with a hotel this old it's a battle we face every day. We've just had all of our carpets deep cleaned professionally, so that helps, and would help with your comment about pet hair. Sorry we didn't live up to your expectations, and hope next time you are in town we might see you again.

We actually won the bid on this, listed as a 2.5, though I would have to disagree. Maybe a 2. The other location in town might be a 2.5. Be sure to check that one out first.

It was not a horrible stay, it just was a little less than average. The room was dated and well worn. It was not the cleanest. The bed was not uncomfortable, but just now what you would expect. The parking lot needs work and at times, a spot is hard to come by. The outside door is left open, even though there is a card reader there. The hotel smells of smoke. There is no elevator, and the stairwell seems somewhat creepy, especially being so near the unlocked door. It is not in the best area, although being near the highway, it is convenient. The pool was small and unkept. The breakfast is the usual continental offering, (maybe a little less variety for the usual)plus make your own waffles, shaped like Texas. The coffee tasted old, and even the coffee in the room seemed bad.

Check-in and out was easy.

I'd like to thank you for your recent stay, and taking time to write a review. Sounds like we didn't quite live up to your expectations, and for that I'd like to apologize. We've got some exciting changes coming this fall, so even though your first thought is "the other one in town first"...we'd love to have you back for a second chance at a better first impression!
