Bonnie (owner) was born to be a hostess. She is awesome! She immediately makes you feel comfortable & welcome in her home & B&B. The B&B is located on a nice residential street, it is very easy to find, and is absolutely beautiful & beautifully decorated. We originally requested the "Ralph Dundee" room because we saw the bathroom online and it was gorgeous - double sinks, tiles galore, jetted tub. What we didn't find out until we got there was that the bathroom is next to the room but not attached to it (it doesn't say anywhere on the site that it's not attached to the room). So we were disappointed about that especially because the Ralph Dundee room is the smallest of the rooms available for rent. But the bonus of the room is that you have your own sliding door to the deck in the large private courtyard & gardens (it has a huge wall around it).

Bonnie had no problem moving us to any of the other rooms we wanted (of the same price) so we chose the Garden Room which she warned us about the loud A/C. Occassionally there was a loud rumble of the A/C but we didn't mind it since it didn't linger. The Garden Room is roomy with a separate shower area on one side of the room and a bathroom (toilet/sink) on the other side of the room with small double-doors. We liked that about this room except that the bathroom walls are a bit thin - we could hear the person in the room next door talking or watching TV while in the bathroom (still not a big deal to us though).

Our bed was so comfortable! We liked that the Garden Room had a little desk & a chair for lounging. Everything was sparkling clean! Bonnie obviously puts a lot of pride into her home & business. Even with our difficult-to-please friend who stayed she was also able to make him feel comfortable. We were amazed with her ability to adjust to all different personalities without problems - even winning him over.

Breakfasts are to die for! We woke up the first morning to a little table set for 2 (since other guests weren't due for another few nights). She had a candle lit. Took our order (orange or grapefruit juice - not fresh squeezed though), an egg dish with pork verde sauce, fresh baked goods with homemade jam (a selection too!). It was all so delish!

Bonnie offered the use of her own personal lap top for checking our email. There is ample off-street parking at her house. We felt safe coming back late at night in the neighborhood. Bonnie even had cold beverages in the fridge for us to help ourselves to. Reading the guest book she has guests from all over & all are just as thrilled with the experience.

The one negative thing was that she held a dinner party one night while we were staying there. Not a big deal, except that when we returned to the B&B we went through our friend's room to avoid the party & opened the door to his B&B attached bathroom just as a woman from the dinner party was opening the door on the hallway end of the bathroom letting herself out. That was a bit of a surprise - would have been better if she locked the door to the B&B room, or better yet, used another bathroom that wasn't part of one of the B&B guest's room. But it was a little thing compared to all the positives. We would definitely stay at La Casita del Sol next time we're in Amarillo - the best thing in Amarillo by far!

  • Liked — Food, cleanliness, great hostess.
  • Disliked — Nothing to not like.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Martha Ann's room & Garden room have bathrooms & showers (no tub), Ralph Dundee room is small & has separate bath with double sinks & jetted tub.
