We discovered the 3B Bed and Breakfast when we were looking for accommodations in the Amarillo area. After discovering that the price of a single room at a decent Holiday Inn or Best Western was the same as renting the entire house at the 3B, we took the house of course!
It's easy to get to the 3B, although once you've rolled along the gravel, tree-lined driveway and parked on the concrete pad next to this quiet gem, you might feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Down the road are cattle, burrows, the Interstate, and lots of chain motels, but where you are there is only the ocean of plains as far as the eye can see.
Enter this beautiful little house and you'll see the decorator touches and the love that was put into its creation. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cookware, utensils, even a few spices, coffee, and sodas in the frig. Your host will have prepared a "u-bake it" breakfast casserole or "oven omelet" so you can enjoy a hot meal in the morning.
The single bathroom is spacious, bright and clean. Look up from washing your hands in the Texas-shaped sink and you stare out a window, not into a mirror. The plains beckon you with singing meadowlarks and cooing doves. (The mirror, if you need one, is on the wall to the left of the sink, no worries.)
Two bedrooms are separated by the openness of the great room. This great room has the lovely kitchen on one side and the living room on the other. A television with many channels and several VHS movies is available. Consider sitting outside in the evening on the wraparound porch and breathing in the clarity of space and freedom.
The master bedroom is done in pale yellow, with sunny windows and its own door to the back porch. The second bedroom is bright, cheery and summery-colored with also a door to the back porch.
Best part of staying here? Looking at the wide Texas plains, enjoying the vista that extends like an infinite galaxy of grasslands.
