“Amarillo By Morning”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2014

Check-in was fast and easy. Friendly staff offered help and information. They have a really nice gift shop inside called Lizzie Mae's. Something like 3000 square feet of gifts and home items. It’s very nice. The size of the sites is what you would normally encounter. I like that many have a solid wooden fence between each camping site that’s about 3 or 4 foot high. Gravel is the base and some have a cement patio and small grass area. The Wi-Fi was excellent! There are a lot of things for kids as well as adults at Fort Amarillo RV Resort. Indoor, heated pool, gym and hot tub. Kids play area and a central location with a small fishing pond with ducks. We really, really like this RV Park. Why not five stars then? OK, here’s the skinny. This isn’t unique to Fort Amarillo but I call it as I see it. Be it a car, camper or motorhome, slow down. Creates dust and there are pets and kids in the park. As a pet owner this one stings. Dog poop, some old, some newer, not picked up. Our site as well as other locations. Maybe the poop and dust patrol was on vacation. This is a quiet, nice park and we would stay here again if in the area. Feel free to have a look the pictures I submitted of the park. Hope they help.

The staff is friendly and very helpful. The roads are wide, the spaces are good. The gift shop is awesome. The showers were clean. The slope of the floor in one of the shower I used was poorly designed. The water ran out of the shower and into the bathroom area. By no fault of the RV park, the wind was so strong, it created blowing manure from a near by something. The smell was so foul, all windows and door had to be closed.

Room Tip: Pray for the strong winds not to be out of the west.

Good location. Some highway noise at night. Bathrooms are clean. People are friendly and helpful. Sites are a bit narrow. We'd stay here again, if we ever visited wind gust city (Amarillo ) again. Park seemed to have more of a wind break than the other parks that we saw on the opposite side of the highway.

The RV park hosts were friendly and helpful. They have a lovely store on the grounds It is not a grocery store. It is home decor and gifts.

The sites are small, but clean. They have an indoor pool and non working hot tub. The showers are clean. The pool, laundry, showers, and fitness room are all under one roof. Outside they have a catch and release pond with lovely gardens.

The kids loved the atmosphere. Wish we could have stayed an extra night to enjoy the pond.

There are few lights, so very dark at night. Close to the Interstate, but not just off of it. Quiet.
