“Very nice, poor last impression!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

This hotel is nice and for the most part great staff. Check in was great, room large, clean and updated. The location is convenient, right off I-10, and close to several good places to eat like Cheddars! The pool and hot tub was one of the best we have used and breakfast was well stocked. But breakfast is where we experienced a negative. When we checked in we was told breakfast started at 6am. and thats when our family of three went to eat. We did notice a sign by the coffee that stated breakfast begins at 6:30am, No problem, the young lady whom was working the front desk, already had breakfast set up and said to help ourselves, and there was already a few others enjoying the breakfast. That is when we was confronted by an employee(an older short lady in a housekeeping uniform, wearing a brown coat, eating breakfast with two other housekeepers, or they all appeared to be housekeepers). She goes sir breakfast does not start until 6:30. We noticed others who already was eating just shook there head at her comment. So We proceeded to eat a nicely prepared breakfast. We sat down to eat and from the other table the lady talked about us,to the others in Spanish, and about how disrespectful us Americans. My high school son and wife whom both know the Spanish language, could not believe what they was hearing. Prejudice, has no place in our country! At checkout we told the young lady about this and she was very apologetic.

Ok, can I just say that I am now really aware of what a "suite" is? So many hotels try to pass off a double queen and a couch pull out as a luxury suite. Comfort Suites just put them all to shame. This place is brand new and the rooms are spectacular! Huge space!! Feels like we are in a apartment, not a hotel room. Amazing. So worth the price!

Like many people traveling across Texas, Amarillo is just a pass-through city. When coming home from a family reunion recently, our family of six needed a hotel for one night. We found the Comfort Suites and were happy we decided to stay. The hotel is still fairly new and most of the amenities were well-kept and in good condition. Many restaurants were within walking distance which made for a nice leisurely stroll to and from dinner. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were open until 10:00 pm which allowed out children to get in a great swim before dinner. The fitness center does not have a lot of equipment, but the equipment it does have was in great shape and most likely meets the needs of those traveling through. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The coffee was hot and very good. The staff was very friendly and quite helpful. We really enjoyed our brief stay.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for extra bedding if you are using the pull-out sofa. Also, a freezer is not incl...

Stayed one night with our family of six. Suite was spacious and very clean. Didn't feel cramped at all. Kids loved the spa and pool. Breakfast had good assortment and friendly staff. Would stay here again.

Traveling through Amarillo without any lodging pre-arranged we lucked upon this particular Comfort Suites and were very pleasantly surprised! The clerk at the front desk was so particularly kind and patient with us - I was very impressed with her professionalism and personality being so pleasant. We got a room on the 4th floor and it was very large and lovely. There was a large sized sofa and a chair and a desk chair as well. There was a little partition between the sofa and bed which was nice to partially separate the two areas. The large flat screen TV was great and the bed was extremely comfortable with perfect breathable linens that do not get too warm in the night. Also they had 4 very nice sized pillows on the king sized bed - many hotels have these teeny tiny pillows that are never adequate no matter how you stack them on each other so I commend the hotel on having these good sized pillows! The room could use better lighting but it is a major complaint we have about every hotel everywhere - extremely poorly lit rooms. No matter how many lamps a room has, if the bulbs are not bright enough it's a huge pain! This was an ADA room and having 3-way bulbs is ideal in rooms to give guests, especially elderly or just those with diminished eyesight, more light for reading.

The a/c stayed nice and cool throughout the night. There is a microwave and refrigerator and the bathroom is large and bright. However there was a little metal contraption on the wall that was weird and confusing - it looked like it might have been where the blow dryer was attached but they had the blow dryer stored in the area under the sink so leaving the metal thing on the wall looked very out of place in this lovely room. (Note to hotel - you might want to remove those unsightly metal plates from the bathrooms.)

Breakfast in the morning was very nice - standard faire of waffles (in the shape of the state of Texas), yogurt, eggs, sausage, cereal, juice, etc. There is a lot of seating in the breakfast area and a large TV mounted on the wall that had the news on. Also they provide USA Today every morning which is a nice thing to have for guests. The staff keeps it clean as people cycle through. Very nice large comfy chairs at the tables too - I loved that!

The check out process was as delightful as the check in. There are 2 old-tyme cars outside of the hotel that have Route 66 on them which are nice for taking pictures. There is a mall or some kind of stores right nearby and lots of restaurants in the area. It is very convenient for those traveling through on I-40. There are a few Comfort Suites in Amarillo - but I can only comment about this one. We were eastbound on I-40 and stopped at few hotels on the west side of town but one had a very slow desk clerk so we left, and the other had no desk clerk despite ringing a bell several times. So it is worth the drive to go to this Comfort Suites on the east side of town. Very reasonably priced and they do have AAA discount.

Kudos to this hotel for getting very high marks on just about everything! Amarillo is not a town I visit often, but if I ever am in this area again, I will definitely stay here and I highly recommend it if you are in the area or passing through.

Room Tip: Hotel has 4 floors. We always ask for upper floor away from elevator.

We stayed in this hotel for a quick overnight stay. It was my second time to stay here and it hadn't aged a day since visiting over a year ago. You can't beat the location and access. If I'm ever in Amarillo again this will be where I stay. Great price and decent breakfast.

It was perfectly serviceable. It was easy to find and to get to and from. The staff was helpful though not always available. We were staying in a room with a pullout bed. The springs were far too obvious for a good night's sleep but we did have the extra bed. We had to go back down to get the bedding though on the reservation it had stated 5 people. The room was comfortable the pool was nice but the air conditioning unit was impossible to figure out. We had a great breakfast with plenty of variety, so if we didn't like something there were options. I only ever spend one night in Amarillo and this was perfectly suited for that. If you can use the stairs do the elevator took forever and it was quicker to walk to the end of the floor to walk it than to wait for the lift.
