“good for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

This is a good stop for families on road trips, easy to find on the interstate. Rooms are comfy. Officially there are suites for six, but we tried that with our four kids ages 11-17 and it was a very tight fit. Won't do that again. Beds are comfortable. Hot breakfast buffet is standard but tasty. We might stay here again.

I didn't book the right room through Expedia and they were full, but the manager was able ti get us a roll away so it worked out fine. Breakfast was by far one of the best free spreads I have been to.

We make an overnight stay at this hotel on our way home from Kansas City. It is right off I-40 but far enough back from the highway so noise is not a problem. A gas station is right across the road so fueling up is easy. A Buffalo Wild Wings shares the parking lot if you like that type of faire. The lobby and breakfst area has been remodeled recently and is comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast is one of the better hotel breakfasts we have experienced. Good selection including biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausages, fruit, cereal, milk, etc. The staff is friendly and gracious. Check-in was a breeze. We highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors are very quiet. Odd number rooms face east but the black-out shades work...

Although there was a significant hiccup at reservation (outlined below), the hotel itself is beautiful and well-appointed. You can tell it's going through a revitalization effort as there are still areas that are in slight disrepair, such as bubbling on the ceiling and paint peeling away at the corners, but the rooms are beautiful, spacious and comfortable. My husband is in a wheelchair and this is the first property where the room was beautifully situated for him. The bathroom was spacious & the shower had a fold down bench with a handheld shower; very nicely done. The only criticisms with regard to the room is that the walls are paper thin, so you hear everything next door (hair dryer, hallway noise, etc) & it's convenient location off the highway access road becomes less convenient when you're trying to sleep in & hear the highway noise. Overall, a pleasant night in a lovely property.

Now for the problem, I have been a Marriott rewards member for years, in fact, it's my preferred property for business travel. As such, I have tons of reward points, which I used to book this one night stay from the marriott website. Although, the website showed that my points were being used (& deducted from my point balance), upon arrival, the front desk indicated that she didn't have any "point stays" for the night and I'd have to pay. She offered no alternative, nothing. We'd driven 11 hours from Colorado that day & rather than fight with them at 11pm, I opted to pay but I'm deeply disappointed in the way it was
handled.

Room Tip: If you're looking for a quiet respite, I would suggest the back of the property and a higher flo...

We stayed here twice on the most recent trip, so I'm going to review both stays. The first stay went without any problems. We arrived and they let us into our room immediately. Their breakfast had a few extras like two types of waffles and biscuits and gravy. In addition to the eggs, sausage, milk etc.

On the second night, Thursday, they had a manager's reception with wine, beer and pizza! We arrived at 2:40 pm and they told us the room wasn't ready, to return in 30 minutes, which is after their published check-in time of 3 PM. We went across the highway to the Texas Information center for maps and brochures.

I think they're training new desk staff, because she needed help from the manager to apply my gift card.

Great facility, we even saw an airport shuttle van!

We stayed as we passed through Amarillo. The breakfast was the highlight: fresh eggs, lots of space to maneuver, comfortable seating. The location is ideal, right on the interstate with a well lit parking lot. The room and beds were also great, and we would definitely recommend it.

If you are driving through Amarillo this is a good place to lay your weary traveling head. We were headed to Nebraska from Phoenix and the hotel is on the outskirts of Amarillo so you check out and are right back on I-40 on your way. The room was clean and the AC was awesome brrrrrr it kept the room cold all night. The property has a Buffalo Wild Wings right there so you can walk over for a bite to eat. The breakfast was filled with lots of choices and the lobby and rooms are well decorated. There is an indoor pool and jacuzzi and the property was family friendly. No one likes a 10 hour car ride but the hotel is a good place for a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: we always go for a higher floor
