“Exceeded Expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

It’s been a few years since we last stayed in a HIE. I recall them being about on par with Hampton – nice, basic, clean, comfortable accommodations, reliable but not usually the kind of places that really stand out. So, I was very surprised and delighted by this HIE. First, the décor as you enter the lobby reminded me more of what you might find in a very hip, modern, boutique hotel. The front desk staff were polite and professional. Our room was very clean with nice finishings and décor, and plenty of outlets. We thought the welcome bag of snacks was a nice touch. There was very good water pressure in the shower and I loved the Bath & Bodyworks bathroom amenities! The bathroom fan did not work, but since we were only staying one night I did not complain about it – I did mention it on checkout so that they would be aware of the issue. The bed was so comfortable! I loved having the choice of soft or firm pillows. Apparently, they have an even more extensive pillow menu, but we did not take advantage of that on this visit. Also, our room was extremely quiet – I didn’t hear hallway noise, highway noise, or noise from guests in other rooms. We did think that the plastic cups provided in the room seemed a little cheap and out of place considering the overall ambience.

Parking: Plentiful and well lit. Getting to the parking lot from I-40 was a bit confusing, luckily we read the tip on here about going through the Courtyard by Marriott parking lot to get there.

Fitness Center: The room was clean with plenty of fresh towels. There were five pieces of cardio equipment, all in working order, clean and well kept.

Restaurant: Even though there were many other restaurant choices nearby we decided to try the restaurant at the hotel. The cuisine was mainly Tex-Mex. The salsa was fantastic! It was so fresh; it tasted just like the fresh salsa that I make at home. All the food tasted very fresh – not from jars or cans. I, personally, would have preferred that the food had been spicier. However, I do understand that they need to consider that they are trying to appeal to a wide audience.

Breakfast: The breakfast buffet was served in the restaurant. There were a number of hot and cold choices available. The fresh fruit was very good as were the cinnamon rolls. I was especially pleased that they offered iced tea at breakfast.

The hotel was extremely well staffed, offered very nice décor and good service. This hotel is a cut above other hotels in the same class rating.

Great place! New, clean, well appointed room. Nice big bathroom with stylish fixtures and a TV as well. Superb service, especially the front desk, good breakfast. They even had a happy hour! All hotels should be just like this one. I'd stay there again.

Booked here for a conference and it was GREAT! The rooms are beautiful, the beds are very comfy, the breakfast was yummy (especially the cinnamon rolls) and all members of the staff were very hospitable. There was also a cocktail time while we were there, but we were so busy we were unable to attend. On our way out the door one evening we did grab a cookie from the snack table in the lobby. The elevators have added security where you must wave your card at a reader before accessing any floors. I wish more hotels in larger cities had this feature!

We stayed at this hotel our first time in July and was so glad we did. We go to Amarillo quite often to visit family. We used to stay at the Drury, but it has started smelling too much like dogs. We then started staying at the Hilton Garden Inn or Homewood Suites. All these hotels are in the same vicinity. The last time we were there we spotted this Holiday Inn on Amarillo Blvd. I wish we had had more time to enjoy our room, but we were there visiting family and time did not permit. This will be our hotel of choice from now on. Spotlessly clean throughout the hotel, our room, lobby and the kitchen area. The breakfast was a Holiday Inn breakfast, but it was good. The room was a very nice size. Had a nice TV in the bathroom. Will stay here everytime we are in Amarillo.

This is a new hotel and the front desk and management go above and beyond to ensure guest are welcomed. King Size bed is very comfortable! Location is close to hospitals and shopping. Definitely one of the best hotels in Amarillo.

Stopped here on the way to colorado. Very happy with this choice. The hotel is very clean, modern, and high security features. The elevators only work with your room card to your floor. Our suite with king and sofa bed worked perfectly for our family. we enjoyed the pool as well. Often king mattresses are saggy in hotels, but this one was not and provided a good night's sleep. Made the mistake of trying the comfort suites one the way home - don't make my mistake! This is much nicer for same price range.

When we first opened the door to our hotel room, I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel is beautifully decorated. We stayed in a double- queen room. There was a large screen TV in the room and also a flat-screen TV in the bathroom. The beds were comfortable and the room was spotless. The staff, however, was mediocre. They weren't very welcoming when we arrived. The breakfast was good. I would recommend it and will stay here again when I'm in the area.
