I do not recommend anyone to stay at the Amerihost Inn in Allen Texas. We had a reservation for a Friday and Saturday night in January. The reservation was prepaid and made in the office onsite on Wednesday of this same week. When making the reservations that Wednesday the personell were told we would be arriving late Friday night. Days were discussed over dates. The clerk, in error put down the date for Thursday and Friday instead of Friday and Saturday as was discussed.
On Friday when I came to check in at 11 pm - the clerk said they did not have a reservation for me. I said well what do I need to do - I am tired and need my room. There were no rooms availble. I found that odd when both nights had been prepaid for, Friday and Saturday night - it was not a reservation made over the phone where you give a credit card for confirmation - it was prepaid in its entirety.
The clerk researched it and found my reservation papers in a drawer with a note that we did not show up on Thursday and the reservation was cancelled. The original clerk who took the money wrote down the wrong dates. The reservation had Thrusday and Friday on them, not Friday and Saturday. I could not understand how that had hapened since the reservations were made on Wednesday when we were coming on Friday the 13ths. Seems like it would be easy to realize on Wednesday that the date was the 11th and Fridays date would be the 13th not the 12th.
At any rate - this was Friday, a day that had been prepaid and was on the reservation. There were no rooms. It was very frustrating that we had paid for the rooms in advance and there was no room.
I could not understand how they could cancel a prepaid reservation - I can understand if a credit card had been holding the room - but not when it had been prepaid in its entirety.
The following day we returned to the Inn to talk to the manager who refused to refund our money for their mistake. It was obvious that she did not care about the reputation of the inn she was managing and that the customer was not important or necessary for thier business. Aside from the fact that Friday we arrived and there was no room, although one had been paid for earlier - we were not entited to a refund for Thursday.
Most hotels that I know would be very sorry that there were no rooms available when one had been paid for. Most hotels would do everything in their power to make it right in order to keep their guest happy and with a desire to return to their hotel. Most hotels would go above and beyond to compensate for the guests stay - not Amerihost - they just take your money and leave you there with no room.
