We stayed here for one night. Apparently it used to be the AmeriHost Inn that is listed on Trip Advisor also. The front desk was friendly and efficient. The room smelled musty and could use an update but appeared clean. The bed was very comfortable. My daughter really enjoyed the indoor pool. It was in a beautiful room and was very clean. There was almost nothing to the continental breakfast, less than usual for a hotel like this. It was certainly fine for a one night stay and the pool made it fun for my daughter.

As evident from the ranking: there are not many options to choose from in Allen. We needed to be in the neighborhood and this was a good value at a total of about US$95 / night compared to the other hotels nearby. We stayed 4 nights and the only problems we had were with the housekeeping staff.
One morning (not on the day we checked out) we left our room, left the “Do not disturb” sign on the door and talked to the cleaning staff, who were standing right outside our door, explaining that we didn’t need any service that day. After the usual back-and-forth, the woman seemingly responsible for our room seemed to have understood our request and agreed. On our return that evening, the sign was no longer on the door, the room had been serviced AND, ironically, a message was waiting on the phone from management, noting that we had hung the “no not disturb” sign out and so would not get any service, but if we needed clean towels our such, we could get those, of course. Obviously there is no communication between management and staff, so we didn’t bother to complain.
The next morning we prepared to check out. In the process of taking our stuff to the (moving) truck, we temporarily left the room – it was still nowhere near checkout time and the “do not disturb” sign was still on the door. On our return, we startled one of the cleaning staff members inside our room, bend over the nightstand, seemingly trying to read some personal documents.

Pros: great mattresses, big fridge, microwave, big TV with lots of channels and really clean room (room 101)! Great, freshly brewed coffee 24 hrs in the lobby (pick “strong” if you don’t like the taste of “normal” – it makes all the difference!).

Cons: Senseless water “safer” in place, which decreases water pressure unbearably (long hair!) and thus increases the time I have to spend in the shower and thus increases my water usage; no handheld showerhead, no “drain-strainer” (long hair!), no fan in bathroom, loud air-conditioner.

The rooms here were clean and nicely furnished and the hotel sits back far enough from the Interstate to be surprisingly quiet. The continental breakfast was deplorable: The coffee dispensed from a machine had a distinct metallic taste and the pastries were cellophane-wrapped horrors. The lobby served as a breakfast room with seating for eight guests. The air conditioner in the room was a problem. It was rather noisy and blew the air directly on the bed. There was no way to direct the airflow of the unit.
On the plus side the location was good. The Allen Premium outlets were a short drive away and a walk across the hotel parking lot brought you to "Dickey's BBQ" with very good and very inexpensive food. If we return to Allen, I don't believe we would stay here again. There are a number of better choices.

I do not recommend anyone to stay at the Amerihost Inn in Allen Texas. We had a reservation for a Friday and Saturday night in January. The reservation was prepaid and made in the office onsite on Wednesday of this same week. When making the reservations that Wednesday the personell were told we would be arriving late Friday night. Days were discussed over dates. The clerk, in error put down the date for Thursday and Friday instead of Friday and Saturday as was discussed.

On Friday when I came to check in at 11 pm - the clerk said they did not have a reservation for me. I said well what do I need to do - I am tired and need my room. There were no rooms availble. I found that odd when both nights had been prepaid for, Friday and Saturday night - it was not a reservation made over the phone where you give a credit card for confirmation - it was prepaid in its entirety.

The clerk researched it and found my reservation papers in a drawer with a note that we did not show up on Thursday and the reservation was cancelled. The original clerk who took the money wrote down the wrong dates. The reservation had Thrusday and Friday on them, not Friday and Saturday. I could not understand how that had hapened since the reservations were made on Wednesday when we were coming on Friday the 13ths. Seems like it would be easy to realize on Wednesday that the date was the 11th and Fridays date would be the 13th not the 12th.

At any rate - this was Friday, a day that had been prepaid and was on the reservation. There were no rooms. It was very frustrating that we had paid for the rooms in advance and there was no room.

I could not understand how they could cancel a prepaid reservation - I can understand if a credit card had been holding the room - but not when it had been prepaid in its entirety.

The following day we returned to the Inn to talk to the manager who refused to refund our money for their mistake. It was obvious that she did not care about the reputation of the inn she was managing and that the customer was not important or necessary for thier business. Aside from the fact that Friday we arrived and there was no room, although one had been paid for earlier - we were not entited to a refund for Thursday.

Most hotels that I know would be very sorry that there were no rooms available when one had been paid for. Most hotels would do everything in their power to make it right in order to keep their guest happy and with a desire to return to their hotel. Most hotels would go above and beyond to compensate for the guests stay - not Amerihost - they just take your money and leave you there with no room.
