“great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

La Quinta in Alamo, Texas is by far the best hotel in the Rio Grand Valley. Friendly staff, cleanliness and convenient location for shopping make it the best. Willies Barbeque is located just a few blocks away for great meals.

The elevator had consistently wet floors. This is both dangerous and annoying. The sofa bed was in very poor condition, and it was impossible to get sheets and a blanket for it. The TV was set at a very high volume during breakfast, and the staff didn't do anything when I asked that the volume be turned down (what's with TV's, anyway? Can't we even eat a family breakfast these days without having a TV in front of us?). I've stayed in many La Quinta hotels throughout the years, and this one is clearly below what one normally expects from a La Quinta property. I hope the management improves this place, as the location is very convenient. There are other positive things as well, of course, such as the upkeep of the lobby. But, overall, I expected a lot more from La Quinta.

Room Tip: Make sure they have WiFi in the section where you stay.

Where should I start?! We went to Alamo to attend a funeral and wouldn't you know it?! The staff from that hotel called the police to say that my family members looked suspicious. So as they are driving to the funeral home, cop cars pull them over and swarm their car. Then they asked to inspect their room, so they went back to La Quinta and looked through their room. How do we know this? Because the police themselves told us that La Quinta had reported them.
So if you don't mind:getting interrogated because you drive a luxury car, the elevator always having wet floors, hearing doors slamming at night, and eating cold eggs for breakfast, by all means this is the hotel for you!!

offered a few mexican restaurants to eat locally offered a wake up call also. Pool was indoors looked very inviting but didnt get a chance to use. My room was very large which was unexpected and very, very clean spotless, THE BEDS ARE AWESOME!!! Had the best night sleep in a long time. The cleaning crew was very friendly and polite. Breakfast looked good just didnt get a chance to eat just grabbed coffee. Overall stay was great will be coming back in the future.

I stayed here 2 nights on a work trip. Admittingly, I got a cheap rate off of Hotwire.

The lobby is decent. The front desk clerk was pleasant but astounded that my rate was so cheap. Even though I put in 1 person on my Hotwire request all they had were rooms with 2 beds. Not the end of the world, but I'd much prefer the extra room and King bed. The room itself could have been great, but wasn't. Stains on chairs, paper towels under the sofa left by the cleaning crew or previous occupant, really loud AC unit that barely works, old style TV, shower with absolutely no water pressure, phone with the ringer light completely busted and bed lamps that don't turn on. My pillows were great but the bed went on two legs every time I layed down...and im not a 900 lbs. guy. Breakfast is very minimal, but included in the rate. About the only thing I was pleased with is the wake-up service which rang at 5:30 AM on the dot. There is an indoor pool that looks nice, but I didn't use it.

It's been a few years since I stayed at a La Quinta. This branch doesn't have me rushing back. It did its job, but just by a hair. Wouldn't spend my own money to stay here.
