We spent three nights here and had a really nice experience. Room was very large - which is a plus when traveling with children. On our first night the hotel was completely booked but we heard very little noise in the hall - just the occasional closing door - not at all bothersome. It is very near the interstate - so there was some traffic noise, but we kept the fan on the heating system running and weren't bothered. I have read other reviews complaining of train noise. There is a train track nearby, but we never heard an noise from it at all. The room was clean and included a small fridge, a microwave, a large TV and a sofa. There was a small area near the bathroom but kind of separate from the rest of the room that would be a perfect place for a pack and play if you are traveling with a small child who is bothered by light (nothing worse than having to go to bed at the baby's bedtime just so the room will be dark enough!) The breakfast buffet was nice - quite a few choices. The kids loved the cookies. The indoor pool was very nice - much bigger than I expected and very clean - not smelly and dank like indoor pools can sometimes be. This was not the Ritz - but it was a very good value for what we paid. We would stay there again.

This hotel was fine for our purpose. It was very clean, clean sheets, no spider webs. Front desk was helpful, most of the service staff do not appear to speak fluent English. The breakfast buffet was good for what it was, a quick breakfast fix. Kids enjoyed the indoor pool. It is squeezed between the interstate on one side and railroad tracks on the other but we had no problem with it being quiet enough to get a night's rest. We did make a point of parking in the front of the hotel, no cars were broken into while we were there. Would not choose for a significant family vacation, we were there for a softball clinic at a local training facility. If my daughter were to go there again, we would stay at this hotel again.

The place was filthy. There was bugs in the room along with spider webs in the ceiling. I would not take my family to this place. The review below hits the nail on the head. I would not take my dog to stay in this place.

My family and I booked this hotel for two nights, this was such a mistake. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There is a train that come through every couple of hours throughout the day and night. The staff was very uncaring towards the guest and I am very sorry to say that this attitude consist of the manager also. While we were staying at this hotel, the local police were called out to the hotel due to a parking situation that involved myself and several other guest. There was a graduation party that was held next door to the hotel and all the parking spaces were taken up by the people/teens that were attending the graduation party. When we(myself and about 10 other guest) first went in to inform the young lady at the front desk, her reply was that she was sorry and she was not sure what to do. Well, that response did not go over very well and the next thing was there were several request for the manager. The front desk person did call manager after 20 minutes. Once the manager did arrive her whole attitude did nothing to ease the tension of the guest, but it added fuel to the all ready growing frustration of the guest. Hotel guest started calling the local police and fire department bacause by now some of the cars that were driven by the teens were now blocking the exit way of the hotel parking lot so now you have nothing but a traffic back. Traffic could not go forward nor backward. After about two hours of this confusion the police did arrive at the scene with their rifles in hand and due to one of the officers comments this is not the first time that any of this have happen and they (police) were very tired of coming out to this hotel. The officer at the scene threaten to cite the on duty manager because the building next door to the hotel has some kind of connection to the hotel. The manager was very rude to the police officer. This hotel is such a disgrace to the Carlton name. I would never stay at this hotel again nor advise anyone else. Please do not waste your money by staying at this awful hotel. I can not see it staying in business for long unless it change it's current management and close down the building next door that looks like a resturant but is really a night club.

“Upsetting stay”

Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Nashville-South

I stayed at this hotel in Dec with my mother and two small children. We were visitng Nashville for a childen's concert. The hotel room wasn't too bad. But our vehicle was broken into during the night. The windows were busted out and a large amount personal items were stolen. We never leave anything visible in our vehicle and we were parked under a light. The front desk worker did not seem suprised when we said it was broken into. Which made me wonder if it is a regular occurence. She was helpful in helping us contact the police and clean up the glass in and around the vehicle. It worries me though because we have stayed numerous times in Nashville and around the Nashville area and have never had anything like this happen. Locals in Nashville told us later that the area is known for high levels of crime. The hotel is located back off the interstate next to an abandoned resturant and arcade. We will not return due to safety issues.
