“You get what you pay for....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

This was a great price so we didn't have high expectations. It had a clean room, plenty of towels in bathroom, and a good breakfast. The lobby and hall carpeting needs replacing but that wasn't so important to us for our one night stay. The entrance is not well marked but can be found by continuing down the street.

I usually expect good things at a Country Inn & Suites. This hotel failed at every turn. I'm genuinely surprised that Carlson will allow this property to remain under the name "Country Inn" because it's giving the chain a bad name.

The hotel is in an abandoned, dead-end area, which doesn't bode well for people arriving. The street to turn on is also difficult to find -- and dangerous (oncoming traffic is two split lanes under a viaduct). The hotel's sign wasn't illuminated, and the one on the building had several letters burned out. It wasn't the most pleasant experience to return to this hotel late at night with those abandoned buildings and lack of lighting along the street.

All that could be forgiven if the inside was good, but it was not. The inside was older and in need of updating (a Country Inn I stayed in before this was undergoing renovation). There were chunks of plaster missing in the bathroom and rust around the drain in the tub.

The breakfast was surprising in its minimal presentation. For all the space they had in the breakfast area (I will give them credit for having the foods spread out so people wouldn't be bumping into one another in cramped spaces) there was precious little food to fill that counter space.

Worst of all was the wi-fi, or lack thereof. There was no wi-fi available at all throughout my stay. When I mentioned it at check-out the clerk pointed to the public computer and said rather curtly, "You can always use that one." No, I cannot. The wi-fi is one of the amenities I'm paying for, and I should NOT have to get dressed to go to the lobby to check my mail (and this says nothing of the fact that public computers are prime targets for password-stealing software).

Live and learn. This is off my list of places to stay at in Nashville, and based on my last two-three stays at a Country Inn I'm reconsidering staying at ANY of them.

We sincerely apologize for failing to live up to your expectations. You can be certain that we will give your comments due attention and use them to assist us in fixing our deficiencies and further improving our services. It is our utmost desire to provide our guests with an exceptional experience.

Thank you for letting us know that you found it rather difficult to locate us. We will work on putting up signs clearly directing our guests which street to take, and we shall also have our sign fixed, so it would not be a challenge to find us especially at night.

We want to assure you that there are plans to update our facility and improve our amenities in order to better serve our guests. We understand full well that guest satisfaction cannot be attained if comfort and convenience are absent from the hotel experience.

We hope that you will change your mind and consider staying with us again. Please allow us to put our words into action and change your perception of our hotel.

We stayed one night at this hotel. When we arrived, we worried that its very close proximity to the interstate highway would create noise issues. We were happily surprised that inside the hotel we could not hear the highway. Our rooms were nice and clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating and offered us a printed list of nearby restaurants for dinner. The dining room and breakfast food at this hotel were very nice. Although couple of the buildings nearby were vacant, we saw no need to fear for our safety.

Save for the breakfast, there's just nothing good about this place. From the moment you arrive, driving on a dead end road past abandoned buildings and their unlit sign, odds are pretty good that you'll have to park behind the building and walk around. Or, you could do what many other people were doing and block the fire lane by parallel parking along the curb.

I turned on the light to reveal a bulb which didn't fit the shade, giving the room the full on bare-bulb torture chamber effect. My room contained someone else's unemptied trash and a truly surprising amount of hair in the tub. Soggy, bowed in bathroom ceiling tiles and more than a little mold completed the effect. The full on Direct TV was a nice perk, and the bed was fine. But the A/C unit would blow the curtains, creating a slow strobe light effect from the parking lot lights shining in. Happily, I was tired enough to sleep through that until the sun came up.

The breakfast was great--well stocked and happily attended. I took down the Do Not Disturb sign at 9am and left, forgiving the oversight of the housekeeping department for the night before, and assuming that all would be well upon my return. Wrong. Housekeeping skipped my room altogether. Now the rotting food in my trash can was three days old, and not only hadn't the housekeeper cleaned the room, but the supervisor who should be checking their work skipped it as well. Clearly, this is not a property managed by anyone who cares about their reputation or guest experience.

Following the management responses from previous reviews, I did contact corporate customer care, but received a canned scripted answer without specifics or promise of follow up. Don't waste your time staying at this property or complaining about it if you do.

On the way to Sam's Town, Tunica, MS. Very nice room - lots of restaurants in the area. Lobby was very comfortable, free breakfast. Just a bit hard to find the entrance... you may get back on the freeway.

Hotel is in a bad location. Train tracks right behind hotel. Carpet dirty, mattress and box springs nasty!! Stains on bed sheets, and curtains. No ceiling as you come in the front entrance. Room was dated, very old and moldy smell. Terrible place!
