I reserved a room in "Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Nashville-South" though hotels.com for the days 31/08-02/08.
However, we had to change our plans because we couldn't get out of the Baton Rouge area Louisiana because of hurricane Gustav. So I called on 08/31/2008 before 7:00pm to cancel the reservation due to change of plans. They still charged me for one night stay. The cancellation policy of the hotel says:
"Calcellation Policy: We understand that sometimes plans fall through. We do not charge a change or cancel fee. However, this property (Country Inn & Suites By Carlso) imposes the following penalty to its customers that we are required to pass on: Cancellations or changes made after 11:00 PM (Central Standard Time (US & Canada)) on 08/31/2008 are subject to a 1 Night Room & Tax penalty. The property makes no refunds for no shows or early checkouts."
According to their cancellation policy they shouldn't have charged me at all for any nights because I called much earlier than 11:00pm on 08/31/2008. Clearly, they do not honor the cancellation policy! So be aware of this before you make your plans.
My understanding is that the manager of the hotel does not honor the cancellation policy and makes profit out of this. I am saying this because hotels.com attempted several times, on different days to talk to the manager of the hotel but the manager was always unavailable.
