This was our second stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Aiken. Although the majority of the staff were excellent (housekeeping, the breakfast room and reception staff), the manager was not. For some reason, when we asked for extra blankets he would not give them to us but said they would be sent to our room. There was no one waiting but I guess he felt he could not go get them. We were out the whole day. When we came back that evening, they were not in our room. We mentioned it the next day. Instead of apologizing, he excused himself saying that he had sent the message to housekeeping. Likewise on the last day we asked for a late check-out. It was granted. Nevertheless, when we came back, the room was torn apart, and the towels and soap were gone. Once again, we mentioned it upon check-out and once again, he did not apologize but told us how he had let them know. Even when our unflattering survey reached this same mamger, he methodically ratiionalzed our every comment instead of simply stating, "We are so sorry and we will do everything in our power for it not to happen again." That would have made a huge difference.
