“A great restaurant ... Even for the locals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013 via mobile

Superb food and service! Great place for a party or a special night! I had a birthday party for my wife and could have not been more pleased. The special event staff led by Katey is superb. Turned into a very memorable night for everyone.

The Willcox offers an authentic Aiken stay complete with equine theme bar, excellent service, spa, and restaurant. Accommodations were comfortable with nice amenities. Had signature cocktail in bar-yummy. Ate dinner at restaurant and Irish liquor dessert was worth every calorie.

Traveled to Aiken for the first time on business, and took a gamble on staying at the Willcox. It was a very good experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I stayed in their basic standard room, which was great. Lots of space and light, with a sitting area by the fireplace and a deep bathtub with separate shower. The selection of books on the mantle was amusing - Gore Vidal next to Charlton Heston, etc. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and everything worked as it should.

The common areas of the hotel are beautiful. Live music in the hotel lobby, with comfortable furniture by a wood fire and dark paneled walls. It is a lovely old building, with an atmosphere of relaxed affluence.

I ate dinner twice in the hotel, once in the restaurant and once from room service. Both were good, but not exceptional. The calamari was overcooked, and the poutine over salted. Though both the romaine salad and the lobster pasta were balanced, and quite tasty. Breakfast was very nice in the mornings. Good, healthy selection of fresh items.

If I had one complaint about my stay, it would be the front desk staff. Several of them were fairly snobbish, giving the impression that they weren't certain that I was a suitable candidate to stay in the hotel. However, the bartenders and housekeeping staff were all friendly and gracious.

Room Tip: The standard room was outstanding, and a very reasonable price. Not sure that an upgraded room woul...

Poeple who know Aiken know the Willcox Inn. Stayed there in Dec. for a meeting and dinner. Was outstanding. Most Staff goes out of their way to please. The rooms were beautiful and clean.
The lobby bar is atmosphere. Dinner was excellent. If you are in the area this may ne one of the more expensive places to stay but it is worth it. Very historic hotel.

Room Tip: Make a reservation for room or dinner as this historic hotel is often booked.

Beautiful fantastic hotel. Completely restored to it's original glory. Stayed there in August 2012 with a large group. The rooms were out of this world, the bathroom was massive. I stayed in the Vanderbilt Suite (sitting room w/ gas fireplace, bedroom w/ gas fireplace, huge walk-in closet, huge bathroom w/ walk-in shower and soaking tub). The lobby was a great area to meet co-workers (I was there on business), as well as grab a drink from the bar.

The Willcox is a fabulous all around inn/restaurant! They are capable of handling large parties for weddings (inside or outside), and can just as easily serve a table for two with the same great service. The managers and employees work extremely hard to make your visit one you will remember, and want to come back for.

Room Tip: Go with the top of the line Roosevelt room, or a smaller one for a bit of savings. Either way, you...

This was a repeat visit but the first under the new owner. The historic (FDR used to stay here as it has a private rail spur) Willcox has become the place to stay, eat and enjoy quality entertainment, from local talent to Juilliard ensembles. The large, recently renovated hotel rooms are nicely decorated and bedding comfortable. Food and drink are reasonably priced but upscale for the area. Will recommend to friends and family and will make it a regular stop. Most class you will find within 100+ miles.
