“Lots packed in to one place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

The treasure hunt/geocache is entertaining & enlightening. the kids' section upstairs was one of my daughters' favorite places to curl up with a good book when she was in elementary school. I've been to several private functions and they are nicely done!

Fairly new curator has done a incredible job - taking an historic home with little in it to a fascinating museum for all ages

“Aiken County Historical Museum is a good place to take visitors.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

It's in an old mansion and has lots to see on the first floor, second floor, and basement. Our grandchildren like the circus room and the school room. There's also an old school house and cabin outside on the grounds.

“An absolute gem overflowing with history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012

Visiting friends in Aiken who thankfully took us to this wonderful, well-cared for old southern home that rambles on and on and is filled with wide-ranging collections that flow from parlors, to ball rooms, to kitchen, to bedrooms, to basement to carriage house. To fully enjoy all it has to offer be sure to give yourself a couple hours, maybe more. History of the city and region, horses and hotels and country retreats, politics, wars and energy with toys, household gadgets, blacksmiths and a miniature circus thrown in. It is quite eclectic and wide-ranging but well put together, with knowledgable but not in-your-face staff. And its free, but leave a good donation to encourage such good behavior!

“Free!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012 via mobile

Lots and lots to look at and read about in the museum and its free to get in! My 10 year old son and I loved it. I also had my 6 month old with us. For those of you with babies its not stroller friendly there are different floors with stairs. But there is a circus room upstairs for the kids and a play area that is great! We will be going back soon!
