2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

My daughter, granddaughter and her friend, and I stayed at the Days Hotel Allentown for 3 nights Aug 5th thru 8th. There are only 2 good things I can share about this property: 1) The room was very clean 2) Every staff member we had contact with was very pleasant. We were originally booked for a Queen/Double room. The room has a very strange set up. When you walk into the door you are in a small room with a double bed, night table and lamp. That's it! Then a narrow hall past the bathroom to the bedroom with a queen bed with hardly any room to get around, 2 night table, TV armoire and a small writing desk. We were traveling with tablets, electronic games, etc. and wanted to place them in the room safe. However, the safe was not working. It was electronic and I assume the battery needed to be changed out. I hate to complain, but between the safe not working and no TV in the children's room, I called the front desk. They were extremely helpful and understood that room was not going to work for 4 "girls". We were switched to a double/double. This room was a bit larger, and both beds were in the same room and better suited our needs. But, someone had left the safe locked from the previous users and there were only 3 sets of towels. I called down to the front desk, apologized profusely for being a bother and explained what we needed. I was told they would send maintenance right away. We went to dinner at the restaurant/lounge because it was getting late and didn't want to go back out after an 8 hour trip. The food was good, and the waitress/bartender was very friendly and attentive. Back to our room we went by 8 pm. Still, no towels nor a visit from maintenance. We were very pleased when we stepped outside our door and saw the ice machine...only to be disappointed because it was empty. It was empty the entire time we were there. Now this hotel is quite large and the layout has the lobby at one end, with all of the rooms to the right of the lobby. It was quite a walk to the front door/lobby from room 243, but every time you needed ice, you had to go to the front desk to get it. This may not be a big deal to most people, but to someone with neurological issues that make it difficult to walk long distances, it becomes an issue. Thank goodness we were not on the 2nd floor because there was no elevator as well! In the morning, we left a note for housekeeping to please leave 4 sets of towels and to please advise maintenance that the safe still needed to be opened and now, the toilet had stopped flushing. Thank God, when we returned that evening most had been accomplished, but we got by with 1 less washcloth than requested. While on one of her many trips to the desk for ice, my daughter did find that there was an exit door that had room key entry. This was very helpful when getting to and from your car. The final night of our stay we went back early so that the girls could use the pool. We decided we would just stay in and order a pizza. Since the room did not have a phone book or hotel destination book, we called the front desk and asked for the phone number of the nearest pizza delivery they would use. They would not give us a number...instead we were told we had to come, yet again, to the front lobby and look through their "conseirge" book and choose one from there. All in all, for a Wyndham hotel property, we were very disappointed in this stay. Though the room and bed linens were clean, the entire hotel in is need of a much deserved update. The hallways were always dirty and the restaurant itself was never open. We were not comfortable taking our girls into the lounge to eat. I do have a suggestion for management if they bother to read reviews...when customers are checking in, explain to them right from the start that they will have to return to the front desk for ice and offer a small bag full to place in their ice bucket when they get to their room. It would be a nice way of showing customers that you do value their choice in staying with you.

Room Tip: Use the corridor exits to get to and from the parking lot.

I would first like to thank you for choosing to stay with us here at the Days Hotel. We appreciate all feedback as this is how we are able to continually improve upon guest experiences had while visiting our property.

Please accept my apologies for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay. We are aware of the nuisance it was to have to come to the front desk for ice while our ice machines were out of order. Maintenance worked hastily to have them back up and running, but I understand the inconvenience it posed during your stay. I would though like to thank you for your suggestions regarding this matter. We are always looking for new ways to add convenience to our property.

Again thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to leave your feedback. I hope the inconveniences you encountered during your stay will not deter you from visiting us again, as we would love the opportunity to provide you with an outstanding experience.

Thank you

Amanda Kovacs
