My wife and I had to travel up to Allentown for an emergency and we stayed at this Comfort Suites (should be a rodeway inn). There is a really nice Holiday Inn Express that was just built next door but I went for price instead of look. ooops! The front desk person was at least awake and the hotel lobby seemed like the were not finished. The room was non-smoking and reaked of smoke. The bathroom was not very clean and the beds were fair at best. Thin sheets, thin comforter, flat pillows.
We went down to the attached Restaurant for dinner and it was basically an old sports bar.
Well after all that, we got up in the morning to have breakfast and the ceiling in the breakfast are was missing ceiling tiles and leaking everywhere. The young lady apologized which seemed heart felt. When we went to have cereal, the milk was warm and bagels were rock hard. We of course left and went to the dunkin donuts down the street.
Overall- I will choose the nice and new over the other!

Recently stayed at this hotel for an overnight stay. The staff were quite friendly and allowed us to check in earlier than expected. However, the hotel is still under going renovations and certain parts of the hotel were off limits.

The rooms were OK. The decor is outdate. In our particular case the bathroom was not cleaned as there were "hairs" in the bathtub and near the toilet.

Also, in the middle of the night we were awakened by loud screams and laughter. After about 20 minutes we called the front desk to complain. They told us to "chill out" since it was someone's bachelor party...How lovely...

I found all of the previous posts extremely accurate. The pros of this hotel include the view and proximity to Dorney Park, the extended breakfast, and basic ammenities. There is a lively pub called Legends on the facility with a really friendly staff.

The cons: despite being on a non-smoking floor, I spent the first night sleeplessly battling the distinct smell of smoke which must have been able to seep in from other areas. Fortunately the second night the smell did not occur. The jaccuzi tub is a nice feature, but it was worn and although my husband used it I chose not to.

Another potential problem for non-related travellers to consider is that in our room, the tub/shower/toilet are in one (small room), but the sink is outside next to the microwave and fridge. Even though I travelled with my spouse and daughter, I was not all that thrilled about performing my wash routine with an audience.

The lack of a pool turned out to be a bigger disappointment than expected as we exhausted ourselves in Dorney Park by 1pm, and in 90 degrees it would have been really great to just come home to a hotel and relax by a pool without the extreme activity of a theme park.

I found the price of $175 per night to be extremely high for these conditions. But I am not sure that any of the other hotel choices in the immediate area would be better. For that reason, I would consider staying here again for a short stay.

“Ready for renovation”

Comfort Suites Allentown

We stayed here on May 31,2006 during our roller coaster parks trip to Dorney and Hershey Parks.

We chose this lodging since we stayed here on a previous trip and because of the location across from Dorney Park. It appears it is time for a renovation. There was a musty odor in the hallway and the carpeting is ready to be replaced. In general it wasn't as clean as other lodgings we recently stayed at or the last time we stayed here.

When we opened the refrigerator in the room there was a previous occupants food in a styrofoam container. Also the TV mysteriously would go on as if it were set as a clock radio. When we pulled back the bed spread the blanket and sheets came along with it and we were down to the mattress. It's a little thing but seemed to indicate a lack of attention. Also the Comfort Suites is not partaking in the new "pillow fight" among the lodging chains that we saw at the Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn where you are given a choice of soft or firm pillows.

The complimentary breakfast was OK as expected. Unless the Comfort Suites in Allentown is renovated and the maid staff is trained to check the refrigerator after a guest checks out we will look for other lodging the next time we go to Dorney Park.

“Convenient to Dorney Park”

We stayed at the comfort suites one night to make it a two day stay at Dorney Park. We had modest expectations and they were more than met.

The location is extremely convenient (across from the park) and there are two u-turn zones in the road that make it a snap to get back and forth.

Check in was efficient and fast. The room was clean. The crib we asked for was set up before we got to the room even though it was called for by the front desk. (Cribs are first come first served...) The crib itself is good for kids who can't stand, because there are metal latches on the ends. Next time we'll just haul in our pack n play for safety reasons as our daughter is about to start walking. The pullout linens wree not in the usual place in the closet area. After a call to the front desk they told us they were in the lower dresser drawers, but if we couldnt find them, they had anything we needed at the front desk. They were mostly in the room, but for some reason ours didn't have a blanket, so I went downstairs and got one. Many will complain about them not bringing it to the room, but this is after all a very limited service type of hotel. I didn't expect them to bring them up.

We even managed to have a view of the park from our room which delighted the kids as they watched the coasters before bedtime. We didn't partake of the free continental breakfast though many did and seemed happy. My kids wanted a hot breakfast so we went down the street.

Checkout was fast and a snap and the bill was correct. All in all we couldn't ask for more (except a lower price :) ) The place was sold out and people were trying to find rooms. It's not cheap because of the amusement park, but it is well located and reasonable. We very well may stay there again soon as the family liked the way things worked out and we visit the park a fair amount.
