Visited Youell's for a belated birthday dinner. From start to finish it was a first-class experience. You pass through the dimly lit bar to reception desk. After the hostess checked our reservations we were led to a table in a quiet corner by a gentleman who introduced himself as our waiter, Tyler. He brought ice water, which was our only beverage request and kept it chilled and refilled. Crispy rolls with chilled butter followed promptly and an an extra was quickly provide when requested. I started with the clam cocktail (six perfectly chilled cherrystone clams on the half-shell w/seafood sauce). My wife wife had 12 Rhode Island little necks with brown butter, each more perfect than the other, our waiter volunteered that a woman came in and had three servings, skipping her entree' and that people are welcome for just clams or oysters. My entree' which came covered was two sauteed' soft-shelled crabs presented w/lemon garlic dollop and sauteed lump crabmeat on top at my request. My wife opted for the hot lump crab meat which came in a au gratin dish, a generous portion w/brown butter. We both selected vegetables from the listing and both had Chantilly potatoes (twice baked potatoes with butter, cheese and bacon on top). Everything was piping hot and stayed that way throughout the meal. Tyler was attentive, easy to find but not overbearing and it was obvious he considered us "his guests". I tipped accordingly 25% for excellent service, which I rarely do. The menu is varied with a page for specials and non-seafood lovers have a variety of options. This is a special occasion restaurant but they do have an early bird menu available 4-5 Monday thru Thursday. Surprisingly, this four star restaurant does not accept AMEXCO but honors M/C and Visa. I recommend they reconsider that decision due to the upscale clientel who prefer to use it. Next month is my wife's birthday and I am pretty certain we are coming back.
