We have twins who just turned a year old. We haven't eaten out much in the past year, but the kids are big enough now to take them out. We called around and most places had a 30 to 40 minute wait. Surprisingly Gregory's said come right in we have a nice table for you---no wait. My mouth was watering all the way over there, I couldn't wait. Gregory's was one of my favorite restaurants. What a let down. The waitress was terrible. She couldn't get the orders right. First brought us out 2 kids cups of juice. We ordered 1 cup of apple juice for my 4 year old. Both cups were cranberry. She then brought out my sons dinner---chicken fingers and fries, problem being we ordered him a cheeseburger from the kids menu. My wife ordered chicken parm. Her meal came with a house salad. We asked if she could get the salad bar instead and we were told no, that the salad bar was an additional $1.99. The waitress even asked her what kind of dressing she wanted on her salad. I ordered the sald bar with my steak-----I only got the salad bar so we could feed our 1 year old twins. When my wife's meal came out we told the waitress that she forgot her salad. The waitress then informed us that she is to get her sald from the sald bar, but can only make 1 trip. WHAT!? Why did you ask what kind of dressing she wanted on her house salad?
She then brings out my wife garlic bread that came with her meal. One half of it was blackened and the other half was normal. The waitress said "is that bread too dark?" and proceeded to say "I think it is." Then why did you even bring it out like that!?
There was a list of "specials" on a sheet of paper with no prices listed. I asked the waitress if the specials were the price in the regular menu or if they were "special" prices. I never did get a clear answer from her, but I did order a pound of steamed clams anyway. The clams were an appetizer, but still have not come out when our entrees were served. I brought this to my waitress' attention. She brought the clams out when I was about have way finished with my steak. I should have just told her to scratch them from my order. And guess what, the clams on the special list were full price. Why even have a special list?
I asked the waitress for a refill on my soda, which she brought. She then, no kidding brought me out another soda 3 minutes later. Not a big deal, but my god the dining room only had 4 tables of patrons and our waitress was only serving our table. She struggled this bad with only one table---good thing for her they aren't busy.
My wife's meal was okay. My steak was really a let down. It was very dry and charred around the edges. The pickles used to have a nice garlic taste to them, but this time they were very plain. Worse yet, after I already ate a pickle from the bucket they give them to you in. My wife noticed there was one in there that was only a half and sure looks like it was bit in half----pretty freakin gross.
Now we get the bill. My sons cheeseburger was supposed to be $6.50---I was charged $6.75 and his juice was supposed to be $.50 more. I was charged $2.30 for his cranberry juice. The bill came to $62 and change. The waitress hawked over our table until I put the money down. I would normally tip at least 20%. I gave her $70. A tip of $7 and change. I figured that offset me being overcharged for some items and the poor service we got. We could have gone out and dropped less than $70 at many other restaurants and had a much better meal.
It's a shame. This really used to be one of my favorite restaurants, I love to eat steak. The carpet, walls, everything in the place have not been updated since this place opened. They need Chef Ramsey to come in and straighten them out or just close the place. A big let down. We won't be back
