I stayed at the Village Suites because of the reviews I read here on Trip advisor but was still surprised at just HOW friendly and helpful they were at the Village suites.
When I arrive I was helped by a gentleman, I think his name was Justin - he carefully went through all of the information I needed, got my breakfast set up and offered me a cookie and paper. When I got to the room he called to be sure everything was okay...yes it was.
The room was clean and nicely furnished, it was just me going for a retreat to make a plan for the coming year for my struggling business and to get some down time away from computers and work. So having an actual living room area and separate bedroom was nice so that I could work in one well lit space and not have to sit on the bed to work. Plus it was quiet and comfortable.
Every morning a quiet gentleman brought a tray with coffee, fruit, and something to toast (bread, English muffin etc.) and orange juice. I kept forgetting to tip him but finally remembered on the last day...he was very sweet.
My room was too hot the first night and I couldn't seem to get it down to the right temp. I had it set at 57 and it was actually 71 -72 in the room so I called the front desk and she sent someone right up, he was very helpful and nice - he wanted to come back before his shift was over to make sure the temperature was working okay but I had an appointment and wouldn't be back in time. He said he could ask his supervisor to come with him - I said it wasn't necessary, I had no problem with him coming into the room while I was gone (he made it sound like that wasn't permitted which is good policy I guess but, there was nothing of value in the room and I wasn't concerned so...?) Anyway, it WAS fixed and then I saw him in the parking lot a couple days later as I was driving out, he recognized me I could see and we waved and smiled at each other. It actually made my day.
Then I came home last night and discovered that I was missing an earring, a diamond earring that my husband had given me after I finished college - I was a late bloomer and didn't go back to school until I was 35! I looked everywhere and couldn't find it, and figured there wasn't much of a chance that it would be found there...but I called and J.W. helped me, he said that yes - it was there! Amazing. The woman that cleaned my room found it and turned it in...Lupe you are an amazing person and I thank you for your great service! The person who does the shipping comes in on Friday and will send the earring to me. So happy!
Yes, I would definitely stay there again, and would highly recommend it to anyone I know. Just for the service alone but when you add in the price which was actually comparable to most regular rooms I have stayed in. Plus the fact that it was clean, the bed was super comfy (king bed and I used the whole thing...and all the pillows too! nice to have a lot of room for once!) there were 2 tvs, one in the LR and one in the BR... fridge, toaster, microwave, coffee bar open 24 hours. I was very impressed with everything but the friendly, helpful service is the absolute best - any other problem can be overcome if there is someone willing to help and at the Village Suites at Ashland Hills - the service is awesome!
Thank you!
Room Tip: As far as I could tell, all the rooms are the same and they are probably just as quiet and comfortab...
