“January 18-21, 2013”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Traveling with 16 year old son. Appreciated the separate room. Delivered breakfast food and newspaper was a nice touch. Easy on and off the freeway, but not walkable to the "Railroad District" ( downtown). Room was clean and tidy. In all, good value for the price paid.

“Clean, Friendly, and Honest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I stayed at the Village Suites because of the reviews I read here on Trip advisor but was still surprised at just HOW friendly and helpful they were at the Village suites.

When I arrive I was helped by a gentleman, I think his name was Justin - he carefully went through all of the information I needed, got my breakfast set up and offered me a cookie and paper. When I got to the room he called to be sure everything was okay...yes it was.

The room was clean and nicely furnished, it was just me going for a retreat to make a plan for the coming year for my struggling business and to get some down time away from computers and work. So having an actual living room area and separate bedroom was nice so that I could work in one well lit space and not have to sit on the bed to work. Plus it was quiet and comfortable.

Every morning a quiet gentleman brought a tray with coffee, fruit, and something to toast (bread, English muffin etc.) and orange juice. I kept forgetting to tip him but finally remembered on the last day...he was very sweet.

My room was too hot the first night and I couldn't seem to get it down to the right temp. I had it set at 57 and it was actually 71 -72 in the room so I called the front desk and she sent someone right up, he was very helpful and nice - he wanted to come back before his shift was over to make sure the temperature was working okay but I had an appointment and wouldn't be back in time. He said he could ask his supervisor to come with him - I said it wasn't necessary, I had no problem with him coming into the room while I was gone (he made it sound like that wasn't permitted which is good policy I guess but, there was nothing of value in the room and I wasn't concerned so...?) Anyway, it WAS fixed and then I saw him in the parking lot a couple days later as I was driving out, he recognized me I could see and we waved and smiled at each other. It actually made my day.

Then I came home last night and discovered that I was missing an earring, a diamond earring that my husband had given me after I finished college - I was a late bloomer and didn't go back to school until I was 35! I looked everywhere and couldn't find it, and figured there wasn't much of a chance that it would be found there...but I called and J.W. helped me, he said that yes - it was there! Amazing. The woman that cleaned my room found it and turned it in...Lupe you are an amazing person and I thank you for your great service! The person who does the shipping comes in on Friday and will send the earring to me. So happy!

Yes, I would definitely stay there again, and would highly recommend it to anyone I know. Just for the service alone but when you add in the price which was actually comparable to most regular rooms I have stayed in. Plus the fact that it was clean, the bed was super comfy (king bed and I used the whole thing...and all the pillows too! nice to have a lot of room for once!) there were 2 tvs, one in the LR and one in the BR... fridge, toaster, microwave, coffee bar open 24 hours. I was very impressed with everything but the friendly, helpful service is the absolute best - any other problem can be overcome if there is someone willing to help and at the Village Suites at Ashland Hills - the service is awesome!

Thank you!

Room Tip: As far as I could tell, all the rooms are the same and they are probably just as quiet and comfortab...

“Dog Friendly & Outstanding Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

The Village Suites is a shadow of its former self, with only one wing of a once huge property still operating, but what's left is still an outstanding value in space and comfort. We started staying at the property almost nine years ago when it was in its heyday as The Windmill Inn Resort.
We continue to stay because we travel with a couple of 50+ pound dogs and the staff have always been completely welcoming and very friendly with both us and the dogs- and there's a very large (if jungle weedy) open area for the dogs. The suites are relatively large with the advantage of doors between the bedroom and the living room/kitchenette area.

Dave B is absolutely right about how hard it can be to find the registration area (it's at the extreme southern end of the operating wing), especially at night and the breakfast is a little weird (no protein this latest visit and bread for toast that wouldn't fit into the toaster) but for us there's no other choice in Ashland. Let me add that The Wild Goose Cafe & Bar just across the bridge toward town may look iffy, but it's an unexpected and welcome find.

Room Tip: You need to make your reservation by phone if you're traveling with pets and you should expect t...

“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

My family enjoyed our short 3 night stay here over Christmas day. We had a nice suite with 2 double beds and a sofa bed. The view from the balcony was nice with a snow capped mountain. All the employees were nice and courteous. Breakfast was delivered to your room, but it was nothing to die for. My only complaint was the heater/aircon was noisy. There is a chevron gas station and a restaurant right across it, and it is just off the I-5 exit. I believe they are now called Windmill Inn.

“Could not find the front desk to check in!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

Tried to stay here after a harrowing trip over the Siskyous in a blizzard, and could not find the lobby! Drove around the place twice, and could never figure out how to get in. The two places that looked like a lobby were keyed entries and wouldn't let me in. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across the street.
