“Good value alternative in Ashland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

There are two ways to experience Ashland. One is by finding a place to stay that's close in, where you can park your car and walk everywhere. If you can't find such a place, then you have to drive back and forth from wherever you are staying. This property, which falls within the second category, leaves very little to be desired. It's only a ten-minute drive to downtown, which is the same distance as a B&B where we have stayed before, but at about 2/3 the cost. It's quiet, immaculate, and well-kept, and the customer service is excellent. It's a non-smoking, all-suite property with comfortable beds, a continental breakfast delivered to your room at the time you specify, free guest coffee at all times, a small fitness center, and, from some rooms, nice views of the spectacular nearby mountains. You also get your choice of a local newspaper or the Wall Street Journal every day. The only shortcoming I found was that there was only one elevator to serve two guest floors, with no nearby stair alternative (they were at the complete end of the hallways away from the elevator). Also, the property sort of sneaks up on you on the left as you approach it just beyond the interstate, and there is only one way in and out. After you turn in you immediately make a sharp left hand turn in a rather narrow two-way driveway. Likewise, when exiting the property, the visibility is somewhat limited. So it's wise to be prudent when entering and exiting. If there were previously issues with signage, there are none now -- the property is extremely well marked and I had no doubt as to where checkin was. Rooms have small balconies where it's nice to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Southern Oregon climate.

“Clean, quiet annd friendly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

We very much enjoyed our stay last week at The Village Suites. We were cheerfully greeted at check-in and offered fresh cookies and fruit. Our room was very large, bright and exceptionally clean with a lovely view of the garden and surrounding countryside. The bed was very comfortable and we appreciated the high quality linens and towels. Breakfast delivered to the room and having a sitting room in which to enjoy it, was very convenient as we prepared for an early departure.
We look forward to staying here again the next time we visit Ashland.

“Breakfast in bed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

Stayed 2 nights. Although this hotel seems to cater to the business traveler, rather than the tourist, we enjoyed our stay. The location next to the freeway, did not make it noisy, and the lack of an onsite restaurant was offset by the great idea of providing a morning breakfast snack delivered to the room. A pool would have made it perfect.

“Weird place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

Seems to be some kind of converted apartment building - there is no actual front desk/reception - have to follow some random corridors in the back to arrive at someone's office. THAT's the check in. Also, no pool. Is sufficiently clean, quite spartan, but certainly not what you would expect from a hotel.

Dear Mr. GrahamB68,

We are sorry that you were confused during your stay at our #1 ranked hotel on TripAdvisor. We have good signage giving directions to the concierge check in desk, which is at the clearly marked entrance to the hotel. We have only two corridors. The Village Suites were never apartments and we are proud to be the only true two-room suites hotel in Ashland. You may be used to a large room with a half wall being called a suite. Rather than a pool we feature a large garden patio area for sunning and relaxing. Our website states we have no pool so we do not understand your surprise. We are disappointed that we were not able to meet your expectations.

Sincerely,

John Cauvin, President & CEO
