“We can't imagine staying anywhere else.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

We've been coming to Ashland every year since 1987 for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and in one incarnation or another, this is the property we've chosen. It's a couple miles from the festival area, so you'll want to have a car, but there's no finer location because, unlike many of the places in town, there's an open feeling to the Village Suites. The views of the surrounding hills are breathtaking. After a few days at the festival, we find ourselves really appreciating the ability to get out of the center of the action where it's very touristy.

Every room is a 2-room suite. We generally get one with two full sized beds, and there's also a pull out sofa in the other room, which was great when we brought my niece with us last year.

The rooms include a mini-fridge, sink, coffeemaker, toaster, and microwave. We love this aspect as there is a big Albertson's market very nearby where we buy food to prepare in-room. It's great having the option to save money (+be healthier) and eat-in. The front desk will lend you a free kitchen kit with plates, bowls, utensils, and dish soap.

The customer service here is second to none. I get the impression it's a huge priority for this company. One year there was a mix-up with our reservation, and we got to speak to the President and CEO of the company himself so he could apologize and fix the issue.

Thought there's no pool or restaurant here, this place works hard to supply many other perks. Fresh-baked cookies upon arrival, morning continental breakfast delivery (bread, jam, butter, granola bar, fresh fruit, coffee, tea.) You can also rent games, DVD players, movies, and even bikes you can ride around the beautiful surrounding country.

This location is also very close to the freeway, which makes trips to Medford a breeze. We often go to Medford restaurants for a better selection and to avoid paying the Ashland city sales tax.

There's also a small exercise room and 24-hour coffee/tea available. Parking is beyond ample, wi-fi is free, and the property is well secured. This place is an excellent value for all that you get. If you have firm travel dates, pre-pay on the Windmill Inn website and you'll get an even lower rate.

We can't imagine staying anywhere else. We highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We ask for a 3rd floor room with a view of the hills. Corner rooms are quietest.

“Quiet, great bed, pet friendly, good service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

The only negative is that you cannot walk to town. Large suites, reasonable price, nice lawn area for pets. Continental breakfast and paper delivered to room.

“We loved the rooms and returned on our way home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

We stayed in a few different hotels on our recent trip, and while some had more amenities (such as a pool or hot tub), the Village Suites had the nicest rooms. It really was a suite with a separate bedroom. Nice for a family. We liked the layout - a little kitchen area with fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee machine, a living area and a separate bedroom, (two televisions). The bathroom had a convenient separate door into the bedroom. Since my two kids did not want to share a bed, it was very handy to have a sofabed for one of them to use (although my daughter said it was creaky). On the first floor we had a back door out to the patio area, which was very nice. Parking was easy and plentiful. It wasn't far into town by car and parking there seemed OK too. It was handy to have access to the computers and printer in the business center at the hotel when we decided to alter our travel plans for the road ahead. The staff were friendly and helpful. We liked the way breakfast was brought to our room, although some more choice of food items might have been nice for my fussy family. We liked our stay so much on the way out that we stayed there again on the way home.

“Ashland is beautiful and the Village Inn is a great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2011

We had no idea Ashland would be such a delightful little town to visit in the summer. Full of culture, a lovely park and great places to eat. The Village Suites at Ashland Hills even though they are a little removed from the downtown action are an excellent base to explore Ashland and the area around. The rooms were very well priced and very spacious. No complaints whatsoever.

“Nice - yes; Memorable - not so much”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2011

The review offered by 4 runner, who had the Village Suites experience in July 2011, perfectly describes the property and the room accommodations. It is such an all-encompassing presentation that there is little left to add. However, it could be mentioned that there is a wonderful library of books and videos available to guests (on loan and free) in the registration room. Interestingly, we would have probably availed ourselves of a movie had the reception person told us that it was necessary to request a DVD player from there as well. We searched high and low in our room for a way to play thr DVD movie that we brought with us, but couldn't find a thing. It was only the next morning upon check out, that we found out about the borrowability of the DVD player.

One of the most charming things about this hotel is the personalized continental breakfast service which is offered. The individual that came to our room with our order (placed the previous night) was wonderfully subtle and sweet and reminiscent of my concept of how stars or royalty are served breakfast in bed by house staff. Such a nice touch.
We had no issues with a noisy a/c, as the windows readily opened to admit the cool night air, which made for a beautiful night's sleep.
The 4 point rating we gave was due primarily to the value. For the price we paid for a double suite, $126 "special rate", we were left with a "not so much" impression compared to several hotels (such as Embassy Suites) who, for a few dollars more, provided substantially more amenities and offers. That said, it may be that for Ashland, Village Suites is the best opportunity for the money.

We would like to thank you for your positive comments regarding your recent stay at our Ashland property.

We are very disappointed that our Guest Service Agent did not inform you of the availability of our DVD players during check in. We will take the necessary steps in retraining our staff members.

Again, thank you for choosing to stay with us.
