The Romeo Inn is a seven room B&B located in a quiet neighborhood several blocks up the hill from the OSF theaters. A weekend stay there has been an annual event for us for a number of years. All of the rooms are spacious and well appointed, although we think it's worth spending a little more for one of the suites. The backyard pool and patio has to be one of the most beautiful in Ashland, particularly for a place that's so close to the center of town, and it's so relaxing just to lounge for a few hours in the afternoon. The grounds are lovely, most of the rooms have a view out over the valley, and the neighborhood is so quiet that deer often wander through at sunset. Breakfast is always a three course affair, with a freshly made fruit smoothie, a fresh baked muffin or scone, and a hot dish - it's plenty of food, but is never heavy. The innkeepers, Don and Deanna, are welcoming but not "in your face" and they share a great, dry sense of humor. The bathrooms are more homey than luxurious, and several of the rooms have showers but no tubs, so if luxury hotel-style bathrooms are a priority and you don't book the suite with the tub, this is probably not the place for you. The theaters are within walking distance if you're in decent physical condition, but the walk home is up a hill. We always reward ourselves with post-theater freshly baked cookies from the fully stocked cookie jar.
