My family loved the Country Willows Inn. The hosts were super friendly, the breakfasts divine, and the setting was beautiful. We stayed in the converted barn, with large rooms and great finishes. The pool was quiet and restful, the walks up the creek fantastic, the gardens in bloom were a treat. This was our first trip to the Ashland Rogue River area, and we used the inn as a base camp for exploring the valley. It was the perfect spot - on the edge of town for a real 'rural' flavor, yet just 5 minutes drive into the heart of the restaurants and playhouses downtown. My two boys (10 and 13) really enjoyed the nights when bats flew overhead in the lights, catching bugs and our tossed pebbles. My wife liked napping by the pool, and I liked the breakfasts - they were interesting and flavorful.

Highly recommended!

“A Lovely Inn With True Hospitality”

We have been visiting Ashland for the last 20+ years. We stayed at Country Willows when it first opened--at that time it was our favorite inn in Ashland, but that was two sets of innkeepers ago. After our youngest children were born, we skipped the Shakespeare Festival for a few years, and have only recently returned. This year we decided to try Country Willows again, with some doubt that it could be as nice as we remembered. We shouldn't have worried -- It was more comfortable and gracious than ever. We highly recommend it.

The rooms are comfortably furnished and quiet, the bathrooms very well appointed. The full breakfast is very tasty (and ample enough to skip lunch), and coffee and a snack were set out earlier, along with a good set of morning papers. We stayed 4 nights this year, and each breakfast was completely different. There is ample space, even when the inn is full -- you can always find a quiet corner of the porch, garden or grounds to enjoy by yourself. The pool also has ample seating, and while it isn't huge, a pool is a welcome rarity in an Ashland inn.

While the individual parts are good, Country Willows is much greater than the individual parts. The innkeepers, Debbie & Chuck, truly understand hospitality, and try to make sure that each guest is really comfortable. Different varieties of iced tea and cookies are set out each afternoon, there are always plenty of big pool towels waiting when you're done swimming, and if you must get on line, there's a computer with good DSL access for guest use. We know Ashland restaurants fairly well after years of visits, but Debbie filled me in on what was new, and what in particular my kids might or might not enjoy. There are a few bicycles available for guest use (with helmets), and I was able to go out for a ride each morning before breakfast before the summer heat kicked in. Those are just some of the small touches.

Finally, the setting of the inn is truly special -- it's on the edge of town, up on the ridge, with beautiful views and hiking access. It's at the end of the road, and absolutely quiet, with the best night skies in Ashland. The grounds and gardens are lovely. A stay here is truly a rest.

“a gem among bed and breakfast”

Country Willows Bed and Breakfast Inn

Jul 29, 2008

This country inn is a beautiful and relaxing place. There is a spacious swimming pool with a forest looming in the background. There are hiking trails that run from the back of the house. A wrap around porch is on the second floor. It is a perfect place to sit and read your favorite book. The innkeepers are very gracious. There are always special afternoon treats and a variety of organic ice tea is readily available.

The rooms are spacious and the towels are luxurious.

The breakfasts are special. Herbs from the garden make the food delicious and a feast for one's eyes. It is peaceful here only a few miles away from Ashland.Ashland is a unique town--the home of the Shakespeare Festival.

This country inn is a unique gem.

Those who frequent B & B's understand their draw. Whether you are looking for the convenience of location, the luxury of being pampered, or the charm of your surroundings, the Country Willows provides the best of all Ashland has to offer. It is an Inn nestled in the solitude of the foothills of Ashland with its spectacular views, yet the end of the drive settles you in the bustle of the city. If you are looking for the best of all worlds look no further! Returning guests are perhaps the greatest compliment an Inn can recieve, and we are returnees!

“Nice option for visiting Ashland”

My husband and I stayed one night in the Sunrise Suite - we live in southern OR and wanted a nice escape to Ashland (complete with dinner and a play). We have stayed in quite a few B&Bs and this one was good, but not the best we've been to. The room was wonderful - spacious with a mini frig, microwave, and private deck (which we utilized as much as possible). Didn't have time to enjoy the tub, but it looked inviting. Big positive for this property - they have a nice little pool, which we relaxed by before heading into Ashland for the evening...made you feel like you were somewhere other than southern Oregon. As we have experienced at other B&Bs, we felt quite uncomfortable at times...we wanted to get ice after we returned from our show, but we didn't feel comfortable going into the main house to get the ice (in fact, my husband didn't even know there was ice...the host wasn't real clear in our tour), we were told to show up anytime between 8:30-9:30 for breakfast but when we showed up at 9:15 we felt uneasy because we were clearly the last guests to show up and we felt "late", and there were a few other times within our short stay that we felt like we were staying at a relative's house (which is not our favorite B&B feeling). Nice thing was that our room was away from the main house, so more private and quiet. The breakfast was OK, but not spectacular (fresh fruit, omelettes and bacon). Again, we've had better at other B&Bs. Overall, a relaxing place to go with very clean rooms.
