“Perfect Mix of Ashland Access and Mountain Serenity...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2010

Stayed at A-Dome with my sister and senior parents -- first trip as the 'nuclear' family in 25+ years! Wonderful hosts who enjoy getting to know you. Up-and-down A-frame rooms are spacious, quiet and well appointed. Hosts also offer access to the main house (a very cool geodesic dome) with view deck and rocking chairs. Made-from-scratch, creative breakfasts and bottomless coffee pot kept us going well into the afternoon. Mini frig provided with complimentary drinks. Ashland a true 15 minute drive; alternatively A-Dome is a perfect jump-off for fishing (three lakes and north fork of the Rogue within 30 minutes) and cycling. HIghly recommended!

We had booked lodging at another location, and were disappointed upon arrival. I called around and found A-Dome had space AND accepts children! With pleasure! The proprietors, the Schoonovers, are delightful. Very kind, pleasant folks, with many talents.
Not the least of which is breakfast! We had a delicious gourmet breakfast in the morning, a lovely follow-on to the complimentary bottle of Reisling we enjoyed after checking in the previous night.
Popovers from scratch, poached eggs with fresh arugula and ham, toast, and "crunchy bananas" garnished with pansies and greek yogurt. Yum! We were full until dinner!
Barbara was endlessly patient with my spirited 3 year old and curious 14 month old, as well. She showed my daughter all around their lovely home. I adored peeking at Barbara's works in progress (she weaves the most amazing creations on her looms!), and at Scott's stained glass artwork hanging in the windows, catching the lovely early summer sunlight.
Coffee's ready by seven, for early risers! What a treat to wake to coffee already made!!
Truly a wonderful place. We plan on staying again as soon as we get the chance!

I had the most enjoyable stay at A Dome Studio. The propietors were friendly, caring, and meticulous. The room and the beds were very comfortable. The home was a country retreat that offered a beautiful deck, perfect for reading the paper and listening to the birds. It was especially nice to escape the heat and pavement of Ashland. The 3-course breakfast was an inspired and creative meal which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also recommend hiking Grizzly Peak, a nearby trail. It was especially beautiful in late June with the wildflowers still in bloom and the view of 3 mountain peaks. However, later in the summmer it might be a bit too hot.

Our hosts demonstrated meticulous attention to creating an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. They cultivate a lovely 23 acre landscape with ponds and flowers, carefully ironed bedding, delicious and unusual breakfasts, and unique artwork on all sides. It's a casual yet supremely professional gift for their guests. I'll most certainly come back when I'm in town for the Ashland theater - a scenic drive 10 minutes from town.

I think we probably enjoyed our stay at the A dome suite B&B with our hosts Barbara and Scott more than the play we came to see in Ashland. The breakfasts were as usual fantastic. We even had fresh morel mushrooms which, with Barbara showing us where to find them, we helped pick. We look forward to our return next year. Our daughter will turn 13 this summer, and we have been coming here as often as possible since she was 2 y/o. The suites are great for families with teens in that they can have their privacy up the spiral stairwell in the lofted sleeping area that is part of each suite. And being out of Ashland a bit, the night view of the stars is incredible. An experience not to be missed!

This is a wonderful B&B. Barbara and Scott are the perfect hosts. We set them a considerable problem with limitations for conventional breakfasts which they solved by doing away with Breakfast and serving what amounted to lunch. Barbara and Scott built the house. It is beautiful and very, very quiet. The property has a large deck which is great for relaxing. The house is filled with the hosts' folk art projects (stained glass and weaving). A delightful couple. Barbara in particular is an excellent resource for Ashland and the Shakespeare festival. The location is about twenty miles from downtown Ashland, so you will have to drive, but we had no problem with the drive or finding parking. Unless you want to be downtown, this is the place to be.

We stayed five nights. Barbara and Scott were the consummate hosts. The unique dome structure offers an incredible sense of space.

Our suite was perfect. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Barbara's cooking is not to be missed. Her breakfasts will be your biggest and best meals while in Ashland ( no small compliment in this food-driven environment).

We'll definitely return and recommend to all.
